A Muslim who publicly declared his support for the Madrid terrorists and claims he wants to be a `martyr' is being investigated by police.
Hassan Butt, aged 24, from Manchester, featured in a TV programme which alleged that British Muslims are preparing to take up arms despite the efforts of the police and security forces.
Butt, who has previously been arrested twice under the Terrorism Act, said he "envies" the Madrid bombers and that he too would like to become a martyr.
He said: "It is my hope that by the age of 40 I am a martyr — and if I hadn't I would probably be a bit dejected in not being among the martyrs of Islam."
Asked if he was prepared to follow other British Muslims to a terror training camp, he says he would be "honoured" and that he would have his mother's support.

And, referring to the continued presence of British, Spanish and US forces in Iraq, it said he told an east London audience: "What happened in Madrid is all revenge. Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, life for life. Anybody (that) commits a crime he should be punished — that's exactly what happened in relation to Spain.
"Objective number one — break the psychology of the occupier by hitting back in their homeland. To be worried about their own wives and loved ones."
"Prepare as much as you can from strength and from force to terrorise — because terrorism it is part of Islam."

Reminds me of the most idiotic cliche of the current war, one that I heard Chris Matthews whining on "The Tonight Show" last week: "How can you fight an enemy that wants to die?!" Short answer: You kill him. Any more dumb questions?
My solution is simple albeit brutal -- but perhaps not as brutal as the killing and dying that will continue to visit both sides until the "circle" is broken.
My suggestion is simple but repugnant to me as a Christian, but I believe that the logic and result is and will be akin to President Truman's decision to drop atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, thus ending the war in the Pacific and arguably saving millions of lives both American and Japanese.
Consider the following:
THE ISLAMO-JIHADISTS ARE WILLING AND INDEED SEEK TO DIE IN ORDER TO GAIN IMMEDIATE PARADAISICAL GLORY AT THE THRONE OF ALLAH. WE CAN SHORT-CIRCUIT THAT QUEST AND AT THE SAME TIME CREATE A POWERFUL DETERENT TO ISLAMO-JIHADISTS PRESENT AND FUTURE BY SIMPLY TAKING GREAT PAINS TO AVOID KILLING THEM IN THE COURSE OF ALL OF OUR ENCOUNTERS WITH THEM, WHETHER SUCH ARE RELATED TO DIRECT FIREFIGHTS (RARE BECAUSE THEY ARE SNEAKY COWARDS THAT MOST OFTEN KILL BY SURPRISE AND STEALTH) OR WHEN WE CAPTURE THEM BEFORE OR AFTER THEIR COMMISSION OF TERRORIST ACTS.
WE MUST SEEK TO INFLICT INJURIES WHICH ARE DEBILLITATING BUT NOT FATAL IN THE SHORT TERM; ENSURE THEIR RETURN TO THEIR HOMETOWNS AND FAMILIES; AND GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO SUFFER THE LONG-TERM HUMILIATION (THERE'S THAT KEY WORD AGAIN) OF LYING IN THEIR OWN FILTH AS THEY CONTINUE TO BE QUITE UNGLORIOUS AND UNVALIANT PIECES OF SHATTERED HUMANITY THAT WILL SERVE AS ANYTHING BUT AN INSPIRATION TO FUTURE HYENAS OF THEIR ILK.
WHEREIN WOULD BE THE GLORY RESERVED FOR THE MARTYRS THEY HAD SOUGHT TO BECOME? THEY WOULD HAVE DECADES TO CONSIDER THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS AND DRAIN THE RESOLVE OF THEIR PRESENT AND FUTURE COMPATRIATES. THEIR FAMILIES WOULD CLAMOR FOR THE RESOURCES OF THE SAUDIS AND OTHERS WHO NOW SUPPORT TERRORIST MOVEMENTS AROUND THE WORLD.
THE VERY SIGHT OF THEM WOULD SEND A CHILL THROUGH THE "ARAB STREET" AND SERVE AS A WARNING TO ALL THAT THE DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES ARE OVER AND THAT THE EAGLE FINALLY HAS LOST ITS PATIENCE AND MEANS BUSINESS FOREVER MORE.
AND THOSE OF US WHO HARKEN TO THE COMMANDMENT "THOU SHALT NOT KILL (MURDER)" COULD AVOID KILLING THOSE WHO OTHERWISE WOULD SEEK TO KILL US........
