Russia Vows to Cooperate With Killer Mullahs Despite U.S. House Resolution!

Well what did you expect from the Russians? or for that matter the British, French, Germans, Japanese, Chinese, etc....? Perhaps it's time the United States Rethink The Alliance!

MOSCOW (AFP) -- Russia's atomic energy agency Friday rejected a call by the U.S. House of Representatives for it to interrupt its nuclear ties with Iran.

"We see no reason why we should end our nuclear energy cooperation with Iran," ITAR-TASS quoted top atomic energy agency spokesman Nikolai Shingrayov as saying.

"Moscow will fulfill its obligations to Tehran to the end," he said, adding that a top Iranian delegation will visit Moscow to discuss the ongoing project Wednesday.

U.S. lawmakers Thursday accused Iran of "deception" and of hiding its nuclear program, calling on the European Union and Russia to drop their ties with a nation once labeled as part of an "axis of evil" by U.S. President George W. Bush.

Russia has faced intense pressure over its construction of the Bushehr reactor -- the Islamic state's first nuclear reactor.

Iran in December signed up to an agreement with the IAEA providing for surprise UN inspections of its nuclear sites to fend off U.S. accusations that it is preparing a nuclear weapons program.

"Moscow will fulfill its obligations to Tehran to the end,"

That has the potential for being a very ironic statement...

Russia exists to be a burr in our saddle. They have been enabling Iran for decades. We shut down Iraq supplies. Next stop Iran.

As far a terrorism goes, they are almost at a bigger risk of attack than we are.

The Russians will say and do what they want, and we'll do what we must -- which is to bomb Iran's nuclear capabilities to smithereens if and when necessary. ....And what are the Russians going to do about is besides throw a childlike fit, as is their habit?

>>Perhaps it's time the United States Rethink The Alliance!<<

If America rethinks the alliance, it will be alone. Do you think that America is capable of defeating terrorism on its own?

I wonder whether something can't be done about this. Russia and the United States have a common interest in opposing Islamic terrorism. Russia had a long-standing arrangement with Iraq, but I don't see why their national interest should persuade them to put friendship with the Iranian Mullahs ahead of the U.S. Especially since the Mullahs' hold on power is rather fragile and they risk offending their possible successors.

So what they get out of this is a moderate amount of money. That doesn't really seem worth the potential bad consequences. Bush should put it strongly to Putin that he doesn't appreciate this.

Yes, right down to the erroneous translation of "(8)" into "(". Nice words, but it doesn't seem to really demand specific actions, other than "calling for" them. (OTOH, I'm not much familiar with "binding" vs. "non-binding" resolutions).

In case you do not realize it, Iran now has America by the b@lls. The Iranians, if they so choose, can hurt US troops in Iraq.

If the US was to attack their nuke facilities, they will send their jihadists over the border, to stir up the Shia in Iraq in a general uprising.

Of course, the Left has weakened this President and Country so much that we can't diplomatically force the Russians not to.

You're completely out of your mind. Right now (in case you didn't realize it) we're "fighting" with both hands tied behind out back for fear of losing Arab "hearts and minds." If our troops were seriously threatened we'd unleash the big dogs and the whole of the Iran military would be destroyed within days. Take it to the bank, frog.

I serious doubt Iran wants to go there. The government of Iran is walking a tight rope between religious fundlementalists and the vast majority of the population that wants to open their nation to the west; they want cell phones, DVD players, MTV.

"Moscow will fulfill its obligations to Tehran to the end," All that means is that Russia knows that the earth will be destroyed by a comet in a couple of weeks anyway so it doesn't really make sense to worry about it.
