From the perspective of a political scientist, nothing is perhaps as genuinely Mexican as the long-term institutionalized corruption of our police and bureaucracy. This is so longstanding and deeply embedded in daily routine that the concept of "ethical government" is a true oxymoron.

Encouraging article on reform and progress in Mexico. Great to see people like Sir John Templeton and organizations like the Atlas Economic Research Foundation supporting good government and free market principles -- spreading the word of classical liberal and free market capitalist thinking to Latin America and everywhere else that needs to hear these lessons.

I wish them good luck. Recall that Fox tried to untie the corrupt knot known as Pemex.
He didn't make a dent in it.

Today, for example, all government ministries in my country have accountability officers, responsible for enforcing ethical standards, . . .

What a pantload of BS. What's ethical about Fox encouraging every peon seeking a better way of life to go north - as in North America? What's so wonderful about twisting W's arm to ignore the fact that the US even HAS southern border so that every Mexican who wants to turn the US into a mirror of what they left behind will come here?

This is just a PR piece that tries to make us all buy into the notion that Fox is something other than the corrupt Mexican asshat most of us believe him to be.

Sorry, sister, it didn't work.
