After what most pundits would consider a week from hell for the President, a new poll conducted since the Iraqi prisoner scandal indicates that Bush has widened his lead over John Kerry.
The Investor's Business Daily/TIPP polled 981 adults May 2 8 (after the scandal broke) and learned that Bush leads Kerry 46% - 41%, with Ralph Nader garnering 5%. Without Nader, the President leads 47% - 44%.
Bush is leading Kerry 49% - 40% in swing states. Among independent voters, it is a statistical dead heat with the President at 40% and Kerry at 39%.
"Despite a tough month, Bush seems to have come out ahead," said Raghavan Mayur, president of TIPP, a unit of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence and IBD's polling partner. "Bush's ratings have improved among 15 of the 21 demographic groups we track."
Another big factor in Bush's favor is voter intensity. 68% of Bush's supporters strongly support him while only 38% of Kerry's supporters strongly support him.
The poll also indicates that Bush's advertising in swing states has made a real difference. In late April, Kerry was leading the President 45% - 41%. He now trails Bush 51% - 36%.

"the week from hell" ....President George W. Bush has been tested his whole presidency, from Election night, thru the recounts, September 11,2001, the economic recession, the war on terrorism, the war in Iraq, the peacekeeping in Iraq. President Bush has been tested, and he has passed everytime. GOD BLESS YOU PRESIDENT BUSH!

wow.. interesting poll
Poll's being polls, I don't know how much to weigh this, but I do see one item here that is pretty obvious...the intensity gap
Bush voters will vote for Bush. They can't wait.
Kerry voters might, probably, maybe vote for Kerry.
And oddly, the media, in their attempts to slam Bush at any chance they get (see this last week or two) only intensify Bush support.
Solid Bush voters get riled up.
Reasonable middling voters are swinging slightly to Bush.
My gut, hunch is, The little man on the street sees the media in full hatchet mode, the growing "wierdness" of the Democrats and the complete failure of Candidate Kerry.Instead of turning against Bush, they defend him. Or at least stick with him.
If this sort of thing keeps up I really believe someone in the Dims will seriously consider pulling the plug on Kerry.
It probably won't happen, ( I give 1 in 4 chance right now) but when only a third of your voters really, really want to vote for your candidate, you have trouble.
I doubt the Dems will actually replace Kerrey though, the only figure that could carry the Democratic Convention on the first ballot is Osama Bin-Laden, and he hasn't been located yet...hehe

What the media and dims don't get is that some of us feel the prisoner tx wasn't right and want it stopped but we aren't going to lose any sleep over the bad guys being humiliated but we are rallying around our president because we are furious that they beheaded one of ours and want to see some serious consequences.

And don't forget, during all of this, he has been attacked mercilessly, viciously and unjustifiably by the RATs and the presstitutes. God has clearly challenged him. Regardless of what happens in the election, he has already proven himself to be a great man and a great president.

There is no scandal. Nothing was covered up. The military began investigating the incidents as soon as they were reported.

The large left wing city populations will still be the thing to beat. The left is able to bus, drive, and hike in enough degenerates to shrink or eliminate a 10 point lead.
People in the Heartland need to mobilize and get our neighbors to vote so we can crush these Socialist's.

And the law of unintended consequences comes into play again. The democrats had their primary season early, so they could have a candidate. And now they only have one guy slamming everything the President does, instead of the entire cast of characters.
And the media pays more attention to the presumptive candidate falling off his bike or snowboard than what he says.
Maybe we should push for the democrats to start the 2008 primaries next year.

After today and the beheading, I needed this info as a morale builder. I'm afraid we will see if the
American people have what it takes to "stay the course."

It's a crime what the Demomedia is doing. Let's hear more of the beheading. Who's going to apologize to the USA for that?

To Attack President Bush Concerning this , by Democrats, hurts them way more than it will Hurt President Bush, hard to believe Democrats could look any more unsavory, but they never cease to amaze.

Thank you for saying this, because it's exactly how I feel.

In a situation like this, people rally around the US Army. They have no sympathy for the prisoners. The Democrats are hurting themselves by making an issue of this.

I just have to respectfully disagree.
Al-Quaeda doesn't want Bush to win.
Al-Quaeda doesn't want Kerrey to win either.
Al-Queada wants both dead.
Along with you and me.
I don't buy into the conspiracy theorist, "Bush set this up" "Clinton cut a deal".
Things aren't that complicated.
Some folks in the Middle East want to kill Americans. They've been at it for over a decade. (Back to '79 if we want to get tacky.)
We can fight them ourselves on our terms, or ask the U.N.to do it.
Those are the options in this election.
But either way we will have to fight them.

The only scandel is what the MEDIA and the Dems. are doing. Exactly!!! All of these attacks are really showing a lack of support of our military while our young men and women are in harm's way. This is a cardinal rule, and if the 'Dims in their desperation don't understand it, then I think that most Americans do.
The only similarity of this war to Vietnam--the only similarity--is the number of people who are so anti-military that they would insult our forces, either directly, or by attacking our Commander-in-Chief. Naturally, Pres. Bush should not be above criticism, but you'd better have some evidence against him and be serious. The 'Dims are just slinging mud to see if anything will stick. Since they are rapidly losing their Economic issue the only thing they have is Howard Dean's anti-war message.
I thought all along that Howard Dean was sinking the 'Rats by forcing them even more to the Left, and into the anti-war Left than necessary. Kerry is replaying his anti-war role from 35 years ago, and the comparison is quite unfavorable for him.

If you have seen the Bush advertisements accurately and devastatingly portraying Kerry's record, you know why these numbers result. Under the radar of "News," Bush is killing Kerry (figuratively) on the TV. Its really something to see.
