From www.news24.com:
...Berg spoke to his parents on March 24 and told them he would return home on March 30. But he was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24.

Berg was turned over to US officials and detained for 13 days. His father, Michael, said his son wasn't allowed to make phone calls or contact a lawyer.

FBI agents visited Berg's parents in West Chester on March 31 and told the family they were trying to confirm their son's identity. On April 5, the Bergs filed suit in federal court in Philadelphia, contending that their son was being held illegally by the US military. The next day Berg was released. He told his parents he hadn't been mistreated.

It was not clear how or when he was captured by al-Qaeda-linked group...

Michael Berg described himself as fervently anti-war, but said his son disagreed. “He was a Bush supporter,” Berg said. “He looked at it as bringing democracy to a country that didn’t have it.”

So that's the source on the son being for the war. His Dad, unfortunately, reminds me of the people who kept telling us that the former Ambassador Joe Wilson was a Republican

We should mourn the loss of this American. However, this is NOT the true face of Islam anymore than the Aryan Nation Church or the Oklahoma City bombing is the "true face of Christianity." Rather, this torture killing is an example of an especially violent, influential, and widespread (maybe 5 to 10 percent maximum of worldwide Muslims support acts like this) Islam.

Yes, this is what President Bush insists and it is true. Heck, the President himself is even good friends with Prince Bandahar (spelling?) of Saudi Arabia!

It is regrettable that certain dunderheaded freepers think all of Islam is our enemy. The President has never said this; and anyone who asserts otherwise is at variance with current Republican doctrine.

Wierd story.

We have some good guys in Mosul.

He must have said or done something to cause this to happen.

he was either held for his own protection, or some sort of investigation.

Perhaps after they kidnapped him, the killers singled him for a video execution once they determined who his dad was.

Oh no, another one of those kooky black helicopter conspiracy theorists!

These Islamic fanatics killed him because he was an American & they are anti-American. Lets not blame President Bush, his father or anyone else but the fellow who did the killing. Okay?

Not sure why it hasn't occurred to anyone that Nick Berg was working for the CIA. Spending time in Iraq, hanging in places Americans don't hang, previous trips to Third World countries. Just a thought.

From www.newindpress.com:
...The U.S. State Department official said on Tuesday the body of a U.S. citizen identified as Berg had been found in Baghdad. The official said Berg had no ties to the U.S. military or the Defense Department, but offered no further details.

"He was a private American citizen not associated with a military contract," said the State Department official, speaking on condition of anonymity...

Teplukin: Welcome the Free Republic my friend!

Allow me to extrapolate one something I did not elaborate on earlier.
The sole responsibility lies with those subhumans who did the evil deed.

thank you, my good sir!

We agree. And I think we both know that under this President those who did this wicked deed will face justice - swift, sure & deadly

Israel should take revenge for Nick Berg's death - NOT America.
He was a Jew, and Israel is the country that should defend and take revenge for EVERY Jew's death that is caused by Islamo terrorists.

Simple revenge? No. Bringing them to justice or killing them to prevent them from killing again, Yes.

Berg was an American. We should care for our own as much as the Israelis do for their fellow citizens.

Well sometimes the son is greater than the father...

Indeed. Nick Berg thought the Iraq war was justified, and he thought Bush was a great president and Nick was a supporter of the Bush administration. Nick also set up the communications system at the 2000 RNC convention.

Nick Berg was killed because he was an American and a Jew. End of story.

I'm so relieved to know there are only 50,000,000 to 100,000,000 such people worldwide.

I believe the father has already sacrificed his son, Nick Berg....in fact, his speaking out so candidly about his son being a republican and supporting Bush should not be considered a great thing as some suppose. It is his way of saying don't retaliate to the rest of his group of liberal democrats, let it go. HIS truth telling is to keep it from becoming an issue like 9/11, because outrage would cause us to intensify the war; otherwise why would he have considered his son's political affiliation during a time of such grief. I would have been supporting our wiping out these terrorists if it had been my flesh and blood they murdered so barbarically.
Even Satanic ritual killings are done by fathers and mothers for their ruler SATAN, here in America. We need to evaluate this from his agenda.
