He never really had a job, he there on a speculative mission. His company didn't have any contracts and other work did not materialize. The Iraqis, the American Military and the FBI wanted to know what he was doing there.

Yeah, I've read more about it since yesterday. Sounds like he was just an idealistic young man who wanted to 'help' the people of Iraq. Of course he was looking for business, too, and that's not a bad thing. He was an innocent in this war, and the fact that he was so brutally murdered just shows how savage al-Queda and it's ilk really are, for anyone who didn't know already.
