Don't just strike it.

Level it, make it rubble, make it dust...above all, make this just a start.

Like Fritz Hollings, sounds like Sadr has also forgotten what it's like to wear women's panties on his head ~

"The ( Mean Spirited )American military attacked a ( defenseless ) mosque in this ( peaceful & quiet ) holy city on Tuesday in its largest assault yet against the forces of the young ( and oh so brave and dashing ) rebel Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr, even as the first signs emerged of a peaceful resolution to the five-week-long standoff with him.

Just more trash written to make the USA look evil and those murderous pOs islamic extremists look so nice and good ----

By 3:30 a.m., some 30 rebels had taken up positions around the Shrine of Abbas, and they appeared to be lobbing mortars from that area to the Mukhaiyam Mosque. Special Forces soldiers began organizing groups of Iraqi forces to counterattack.

I hate these cowards. If you read the headline, you don't realize they're using the mosque as a fort.

Lets just repeat what the NY Times printed.

"A building behind the mosque was fired on, detonating a huge weapons cache."
"By 3:30 a.m., some 30 rebels had taken up positions around the Shrine of Abbas, and they appeared to be lobbing mortars from that area to the Mukhaiyam Mosque."
"The Americans also detonated a major weapons cache in an amusement park last Thursday. "
"A military intelligence analyst estimated there were 50 to 70 militiamen barricaded in the mosque and surrounding buildings. "
"Tracer rounds arced through the sky as a Bradley fighting vehicle crashed through the rear wall of the mosque compound, then backed up and opened fire with a 25-millimeter canon. An attached storage building burst into flames, and then explosions began erupting. The building had clearly been used to store a huge cache of munitions — the explosions shook the earth for well over two hours. "
"Soldiers searching the mosque found large piles of land mines, artillery shells and small white pills, which a Special Forces medic identified as opiates, possibly for use as painkillers. "

I hope they turn the place into a wasteland of broken bricks, loose rubble, and assorted debris--not one stone left atop another.
It's way past time for No More Mr. Nice Guy.

Let’s see here, where to begin:

>> The American military attacked a mosque <<
Good.

>> holiest sites in Shiite Islam <<
There is NOTHING holy about islam, it is a death cult.

>> nearby Najaf, another holy city <<
See previous comment.

>> offered to delay attempts to capture Mr. Sadr if he agreed to disband his militia <<
Bad. This is a sign of weakness to our enemies. This guy should be DEAD already.

>> American leaders are reconsidering their stated goal of "killing or capturing" Mr. Sadr <<
See previous comment

>> 50 to 70 militiamen barricaded in the mosque <<
Thus the reason to FLATTEN the mosque.

>> An attached storage building burst into flames, and then explosions began erupting <<
Secondary explosions. Ammo dump. Another mosque used to store ammo.

>> Soldiers searching the mosque found large piles of land mines, artillery shells and small white pills <<
Another reason to flatten the mosque

>> search was interrupted by mortar attack from the mosque near the Shrine of Hussein <<
Again with the mosques. They should all be razed.

The headline is a typical Pinch Sulzberger LIE.

"A building behind the mosque was fired on, detonating a huge weapons cache, and soldiers stormed the mosque, chasing insurgents out into a hotel and alley. The American military said that at least 20 insurgents had died in the fighting, Reuters reported today."

Please note that we did NOT attack the mosque. We attacked a building behind it that was full of munitions and explosives.

Please also note that our men risked their lives to storm the mosque and drive the terrorists out of it. They did NOT simply bomb the mosque, which would have been less of a risk for us.

The military leaders in Iraq have waged a very careful campaign to isolate al-Sadr from his fellow Shiites and avoid stirring up wider resentment. So far they have done extremely well. We are not being helped, however, by the LIARS at the NY Times, who do everything they can to stir up Muslim hatred against us because they are so determined to regain the White House for their favorite causes: abortion and perversion.

"I am ready to end everything if the occupation forces officially ask for negotiations, on the condition that these negotiations are just and transparent and under the stewardship of the Shiite religious authorities," the leaflets said. The leaflets bore Mr. Sadr's signature.

The Shiites have al-Sadr, we have Jesse Jackson...

I’m getting a little tired of the media portrayal of these rats nests as holy cities.
If it were about anything that they despise they would consistently use the phrase “so-called holy city” in their reporting but that wouldn’t hurt Bush as much as unquestionably calling them “holy”.

Typical Arab Muslim bull$shit..
He lost, we're coming, he will be arrested on killed resisting..

If we fail to follow through on this fair and REPORTED mission -- then we will have lost...

I will then vote for the weakest candidate running for President in the hope that it will accelerate the disaster that will be needed to wake up the lunatics in America that haven't yet come to grips with the situation.

It's gratifying that we're finally recognizing that these "mosques" and "holy places" are nothing but terrorist indoctrination centers and bunkers. Any mosque used for these purposes should be destroyed, along with its occupants. Yes, they will usually hide not only behind the "holy shrine" but behind women and children hostages, confronting us with a bitter choice that must nonetheless be made. It's either that or concede defeat.

If Iraq is to have any chance for freedom, all terrorists must be destroyed on sight. No coddling, no negotiating, no "second chances." Just kill them as fast and efficiently as possible wherever they are found.
