Berg Died for Bush, Rumsfeld 'Sins' - Father

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The father of Nick Berg, the Pennsylvania contractor beheaded in Iraq (news - web sites), on Thursday directly blamed President Bush (news - web sites) and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for his son's death.

"My son died for the sins of George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld. This administration did this," Berg said in the interview with radio station KYW-AM.

In the radio interview from outside his home in West Chester, Pennsylvania, a seething Michael Berg also said his son probably would have felt positive even about his executioners until the last minute.

"I am sure that he only saw the good in his captors until the last second of his life," Berg said.

Then, referring to his son's executioners, he said: "They did not know what they were doing. They killed their best friend."

Two days after the publication of a video showing the execution of his son by five masked men, Berg attacked Bush administration for its invasion of Iraq and its sponsorship of the Patriot Act, which gave increased powers of surveillance to the federal government.

Berg described the Patriot Act as a "coup d'etat." He added: "It's not the same America I grew up in."

Berg died because he was a --GASP!!!!--CAPITALIST!! Trying to make a way for his business in a newly freed country. I bet that eats up his commie father more than anything.

You have to give the guy a break, Insane with grief is believeable. He just lost his son.

Thousands of families lost their loved ones and friends on 9/11.

The vast majority of them other than a couple dozen who were probably paid off by the Rats didn't lash out at Bush.

No, Mike, your support for ANSWER and similar organizations emboldened our enemies and that caused your son's death. Well, your actions caused the death of other people's children, so why shouldn't you pay too?

On Yahoo messge boards someone has posted Mr Bergs phone number in the title. I would imagine that phone is disconnected. He has riled up some people blaming Bush and Rummy for his own shortcommings with his son.

Yes, you are correct..I should wait. Loosing a son that way is horrible

True, but you do not go around and make a political statement and issue of the loss blaming others. The terrorists are the only guilty of this son's murder!
We lost a dear daughter living in Sweden because doctors there gave her conflicting medicine that destroyed her own immune system causing "Primary Biliary Sclerosis." Our U.S. doctor warned that her prescribed medicine was conflicting with one another. Her Swedish doctor said, when confronted, "we don't believe in the U.S. doctors, and six month later she died in our home here in Florida.

The grief was enormous, but we never said that the Swedish doctors killed her, yet their Rx were wrong!

I was sickened by Mr. Berg's 'sins' comment. I am trying to remember this is a man stricken by grief, I've been there myself, but he is beginning to really get on my nerves.

... or perhaps Mr. Berg is insane with grief ...

Exactly what I was thinking! Yes, I disagree with this guy, but after what he's been through -- not only did he lose a child and in such a hideously violent manner, but the murder is being broadcast throughout the world -- I'm not going to judge him.

Well it took some time but I read the whole thread. My view is:

1. Berg was murdered by terriorist because he was a Christian/Jew from a Christian/Jewish nation. That is what the terriorist believe and it does not matter what is the truth about the US being a secular society. Certain people need to understand this basic truth.

2. Berg's father should get some understanding for his statements in grief, but we do not have to stand by and leave such wrong headed comments unchallenged.

3. The story of Berg so far in Iraq has several holes in it. How odd is it that a AQ member used his e-mail account in college? What Berg was doing in Iraq is hard to understand. But whatever he was doing in Iraq, he was still murdered by terriorist because he was a Christian/Jew from a Christian/Jewish nation.

4. Maybe the father will come around in his thinking. Maybe not. If not he is wrong and he will still have my sympathy.

5. One is very likely a troll if one is posting DU theories so soon after joining FR.

From reading your incoherent posts I am guessing you have several competing "thoughts" all vying for your typing fingers.

Sadly this kid will never die in peace as his moronic father will use this for his perverse agenda.

Mark my words, this is going to get ugly; ANSWER/MoveOn/Peaceful Tomorrows will all march this rat (Michael Berg) out and he will be more than happy to talk. Who the hell gives a radio interview barely 24-hours after hearing that a video was released worldwide depicting the gruesome murder of their child?

And again, sadly his son, who was savagely murdered by scum-muslims anyway you cut it, is going to be dragged through the mud!

Berg the Elder is a malicious, sick headed, useful idiot.

Berg the Younger died for something; his brutal murder has reawakened America to the Koranazis' bloodlust.

Pearl and Berg. Koranazis' M.O. learned from Mo'ham', their one true profiteer.

We should thank that audacious young American, as we pray for his soul.

Kerry can use Berg the Elder's foolishness.

When you think about Nick Berg may have died for the sins of his father. If he (Nick) was in fact pro-Bush he probably went to Iraq to offset the sins of his father!!

Wanna bet Michael Berg gets offered to appear at the DNC in Boston this July?

You can gua-RON-tee this fool will speak at the convention. This will be a replay of Gore saying the republicans killed his sister b/c she chose to smoke....even tho he still made money off of them.

We as Christians know that God sacrificed his only begotten son who died for our sins.

Mr Berg is Jewish; perhaps does not understand this.

I reeeellly hope he does not mean it from the "sacrifice" perspective.
After reading tonight that many questions remain around his death I'd give it about a 15% chance.

I have the feeling there is more to it. Obviously he doen't want the blame to fall on himself, where I suspect there is some blame due.

I am not fully convinced that young Mr. Berg was not there on some kind of fact finding mission for ANSWER. If I am right, and I pray that I am not, then this young man was sacrificed on the altar of partisan politics and it might as well have been his daddy holding the knife.
