US 'kept quiet over Holocaust'
UK Daily Mail ^ | 5/14/04 | UK Daily Mail

US intelligence officials knew about mass killings of Jews in Nazi Germany but failed to acknowledge Hitler's evil campaign for a full six months, according to newly declassified documents. Within months of America entering the war, intelligence staff learned of plans for the Holocaust, but the information was given low priority by government officials.

The documents also told of a previously unknown tea party hosted by Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944, for Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.

A translator present at the gathering said Hitler swallowed coloured tablets and went into a "fit of frenzy", questioning whether "the German people are worthy of my great ideas".

The crazed dictator was foaming at the mouth, said the translator, Eugen Dollmann. "I don't know why I didn't go over to the Allies there and then," he said after his capture in 1945.

Nearly a quarter of a million pages of documents at the US National Archives were reviewed by a team of historians.

The papers were from files of the FBI, CIA and the spy agency's predecessor, the Office of Strategic Services.

Among the other findings, reported by the scholars in the USA Today newspaper, are that:

The CIA recruited 23 Germans who appeared to have perpetrated war crimes as agents;

100 more German spies were afforded protection by the US Army;

Nazis or Nazi collaborators with high intelligence value were helped by the FBI and CIA to elude prosecutions for war-crimes.

If we had left Saddam in Iraq, they would be saying the same thing about Bush in 50 or 60 years.

About the only practical thing we could have done to ameliorate the Holocaust was to let more Jews into the country at an earlier stage. For whatever reason, FDR had a policy not to admit more than a few Jews.

I was racking my head over this very thing this morning in church. But notice the headline - "kept quiet". It would have probably sufficed for the left to have heard about the atrocities, hand ring over it, then ridicule Roosevelt for getting us in the war over it. Bush needs to let America know that after 911 he was faced with two choices - either do an end run around despotism and fanaticism and liberate 25 million poeple or coast on through to an easy second term on the hugs and well wishes of the world. 4 years or 25 million people?

Because FDR, like most of the Democrats today, was pro-communist and incredibly anti-Semetic.

Correction - the Democratic Communist spies in Roosevelt's administration advised him to turn a blind eye.

Let's get this straight.

Well I`m sure we were trying to help as fast as possible, but we had a slight hold up in this place called France.

Is the author trying to imply that the US wasn't doing enough to stop the Nazis? Because that would be funny. What kind of priority were the US officials supposed to give this info? "Well, we were going to attack them before and remove Hitler, but now we're REALLY going to attack them!"

For God's sake, don't these people have enough to attack the US with now without having to re-interpret history from 60 years ago?

Sounds like Hillary.

Gee. I wonder if all those French, Belgiums, Dutch, and the rest of the Europeans who shoveled the Jews on trains knew about this?

What the heck were we supposed to do that YOU people in Europe didn't?

Disinformation, lie, or sloppy reporting.

"US 'kept quiet over Holocaust'"

And to the columnist who wrote the piece, the Brits continue to participate in the extermination effort against the Jews by funding a huge pro-"Palestinian" anti-American and generally pro-terrorist propaganda effort. That column is NAZI propaganda. The same canard (that the US is guilty of supporting Germany, and therefore as guilty as they were) is used by neo-NAZI groups worldwide.

Ths is a condensed version of a story from USA Today. There was a thread about it that was pulled because we can't even post excerpts from Gannett, let alone whole articles.

In August 1942 (when we supposedly learned of the Holocaust, per USAT), it was 8-9 months after Pearl Harbor, and we were still for the most part rearming. Perhaps we should have sent inspectors? Or gotten a promise from Hitler to turn off the ovens if we stopped the war? Zeesh.

Winning the war, which was doable, had a higher priority than stopping the Holocaust, which wasn't doable unless we won the war. Duh.

I agree with you, but there is a lot of evidence that FDR knew basically what was going on in 39-40 when the US was turning away Jews by the boatload.

I'll try to dig up a neo-NAZI link for one of their pieces to compare to this one. Theirs' to date have included mentions of Henry Ford, the Rockefellers, etc., and how America was guilty by association. ...pure garbage, and now Britons have added a piece to their archives.

The left is certainly rearing its fascist/anti-Jew head. Read Daniel's and John's prophecies, and this whole situation will look even scarier.

Yeah, I've seen the BS about how the Rockefeller's, Ford, Harriman and Prescott Bush were doing business with Hitler. However, that doesn't translate into knowledge or condonement of the Holocaust.

As if over 400,000 dead American soldiers in stopping Germany and Japan weren't enough...

I really don't like these people who write this crap.

FDR's State Department was larded with anti-Semites.

That's because they were just about all communists, take Alger Hiss for instance.
