Hi, newbie.
So, you're a gay conservative? How does that work?
The Defense of Marriage Act, being legislation cannot alter a requirement of the United States Constitution anyway. However, the "full faith and credit" clause does not require Indiana to recognize Massachussets law as governing the relationship of individuals within the State of Indiana. If it did, wouldn't Indiana be entitled to assert that it's prohibition on homosexual marriage was required by the full faith and credit clause to be recognized in Massachussets?
Don't ban them. I want to find out if they're HIV+ first.
They tried doing this in Arizona last week also. Apparently, it has been on the books here since 1996 what the definition of marriage is. One of the women who tried this was photographed crying over it. They knew the law beforehand.
Yoohoo, mister backdoor man, you are still here on FR, so would you please reply to my questions? Thanks.
Hildy, you are right. We conservatives are losing battle after battle, despite our best efforts. However, the libs really should watch out. What I mean is, they keep using the judges to thwart the will of most citizens. What goes around comes around. If the Constitution can be perverted for liberal causes, it can certainly be manipulated for any other cause. Liberals are only concerned about their "rights" to do whatever they want, but they are playing with FIRE here. If the Supremes can somehow read the right to sodomy into the Constitution, they can make it read whatever they want. Oh well, there isn't much we can do about it any except go along for the ride. I just wish the libs knew how truly dangerous their game is. All things eventually change, and they won't be in power forever. Maybe the judges will someday declare homosexuality to be a perversion and then authorize the authorities to execute any homos. That's not what I would want, but that's what we could someday have if we don't restrain the judiciary!
For fifty years, the Democrats controlled Congress. IMHO, that ended the day Roe v. Wade was issued. The Dems. have been on a downhill slide ever since. Homosexuality and abortion are two policies that do not bode well for the future of any party that supports them. That's, IMHO, a big reason why the Democrats have not legitimately controlled either branch of Congress for ten years.
Clearly, she must have been mistaken. After all, they are gay!
neelloc_13 didn't last too long.
DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) allows states to not recognize other states' gay marriages, but the Constitution's full faith and credit clause (as well as substantive due process and equal protection clauses) in the hands of liberal activist federal judges could easily knock DOMA out of the water.
That's the problem that I've been worried about for a long time now. If Congress does not enact a Constitutional Ammendment before it's too late, this whole decision can be decided for 49 other states by Mass and the Supreme Court.
Yes, it grosses you out, but how about your son...the kids are growing up watching this as normal...and soon it will be normal to them. That's how you lose.
giggle sure didn't.
Mr. Volk, you are completely ignoring the fact that we have gay marriages because some justices manipulated a state constitution to mean whatever they wanted it to mean. What makes you think the Supremes will do any better when it comes to the DOMA? I don't have ANY faith in SCOTUS--none at all.
Saw that too. Never checked before till recently how new a person was. Have too now all the time.
nope......I heard that the other states do NOT have to recognize them.
