The sad fact is this is happening every day here in Iraq. The IED Improvized Explosive Device threat is unreal. Almost every convoy receives fire or mortor attack. Are there good things happening here Yes. But the American soldier in my view is not being supported in a fashion in which he deserves. IE Armored up Humvees and armored transport trucks with escorts. Everything is made up on the fly as best can be soldier engineered. I am a Bush supporter I voted for the guy but I think we called an end to the war push way to soon. I think you must make a country and it's people beg for mercy or you will never be able to control the country enough to acheive your aims.

The fact is that MOST convoys pass through without incident. MOST convoys have no enemy contact at all. And I've convoyed through Fallujah, Ramadi, Tikrit, Anaconda, and Baghdad unarmed and in an unarmored SUV.

And for the poster that asked, it was 106F at midnight about a week ago when the winds were hot from the south and blowing dust all over. Those storms lasted the best part of the week and culminated last Saturday. The rest of the time has been into the high 90's already.
