I advise waiting for the whole story before determining it was self-defense. The media rarely ever gets the story straight. If you wish to FReep Pizza Hut, do it for their policy of forbidding their employees from carrying weapons. I have prosecuted several robberies that targeted pizza delivery persons. I think a person would be crazy to do that job unarmed (or be a clerk at a convenience store).

Deliveryman: I Shot Man In Self-Defense

If the pizza delivery guy had not been carrying a gun, we might be reading this headline instead:

Pizza delivery person murdered - Robbery is probable motive

All the pizza delivery companies have the same policy because of insurance & liability issues. Customer relations also plays a part because many customers would be extremely unhappy if they knew pizza guy at their door was packing. It's a risky business, but the driver is supposed to give up all his cash to any thug who wants it.

Pizza Hut has a policy...No guns for employees! Therefore this employee was not following company policy. He should have been fired.

Honeycutt, who has a valid license to carry a firearm, said he planned to buy another handgun

Why, won't the police return his? If there was any justice (but TANJ!) He'd be awarded the robber's gun for the public service of cleaning up the gene pool.

"The guy literally stood there the whole time with his arm up," Honeycutt said. "The whole time, I'm popping off rounds ... (and) the guy's still standing there after 15 rounds went off in him."

Time to get a .45

I used to deliver for Channello’s Pizza and they had the same policy. One of our drivers shot a bad guy and a short time late a store manager did the same thing while protecting store employees.
The day after the drive escaped death Channello’s changed the policy from “forbidden to carry” to “discouraged from carrying”.
