NewsMax ^ | 5/22/04 | Carl Limbacher

Documents obtained by the New York Times show that US interrogators at Baghdad's notorious Abu Ghraib prision had devised a diobolically gruesome new tatic to abuse 'innocent' Iraqi terror suspects: Nerf Torture.

'One of the MP's took a Nerf football and threw it at the detainees,' Spc. Roman Krol, a reservist with the 325th Military Intelligence Ballalion, revealed to Army interrogators who grilled him about the horrors of Abu Ghraib-the Times said Saturday.

The Nerf football and other Nerf toys are foam rubber objects designed to protect small children who play with them from injuries.

One of the most popular-the Nerf bat- is routinely used by four year olds to beat the daylights out of each other without injury.

In an apparent oversight, the Geneva Convention makes no mention of protecting P.O.W's from abuse by Nerf toys.

What is so sad is that I can't tell if this is a joke or not.

Me neither --- this sounds like "rolfing" or something like that. It's pretty funny if it's humor.

'One of the MP's took a Nerf football and threw it at the detainees,'

The horror...the horror.

Seriesly though, a fast-moving Nerf can graze the skin and cause a nasty little raspberry. I've seen it happen, although I personally never experienced that particular injury.

One time, the pointy end of a Nerf football hit me in the eye. It stung for almost a full 30 seconds...possibly a whole minute.

I will never forget it.

Oh, I forgot the big question:

Was the Nerf football dry, or wet?
