Actually, he was trying to re-vitalize the sagging skateboard industry.
Say what?
Art Bell has joined the ranks of the global warming alarmists but he is not leftist. Have listened to him off and on for many years.
Nothing wrong with Art Bell. Is raising public awareness concerning broadband over powerlines (BPL).
I actually heard Art Bell saying "People, It's Just a MOVIE!"
Al Gore is touting a movie based on a story by Art Bell?!?
It gets even better, Striber claimed to have been abducted by aliens and examined with an anal probe!!!
Why would you--or any thinking conservative--patronize a Leftist propaganda piece like this? To do so, even in jest, just gives the Left more support--both in dollars and in attendance counts. The movie industry is a business like any other: if enough people stop buying their products, they will either have to change their products or they will go under.
The reason America is so far Left today is because most conservatives will not make personal sacrifices based on principle. For example, boycotting this movie. Sure, you can rationalize your attendance, saying that you're mocking or heckling the film. But in the end, it's still your dollars in the producer's pocket and it's still your butt filling the theater seat.
Contrast that with the Left who, for all their misguided and wrongheaded faults, are very well-organized at doing what it takes to get their opinion known to businesses. That's why a small, but outspoken and committed, group of homosexuals were able to get Dr. Laura's TV program kicked off the air.
Yet for all our conservative howling and collective strength, we have yet to get any Leftist program canceled. (Air America doesn't count as it's self-destructing without any assistance from conservatives.)
We have no one to blame but ourselves for the current state of America.
BTTT!!!!!!
The envirofascists say that we will see the sea levels rise 500 feet in the next century.
Whew ! What a relief !
BUMP
I was looking forward to this movie when its trailers first appeared some months ago. After hearing Algore promote it a few weeks back, I decided it wasn't on my viewing list. Now I read these idiots from the movie and spokesmen from FOX and I just laugh. Sam Goldwyn was once quoted as saying to his producer/directors, "If you have a message, call Western Union."
I guess the answer would have to be NO!!
I know we should boycott this movie, but I have a friend who works for a local radio station and he gave me a free pass for a sneak peak tonight. I hope there are cameras or radio people are there recording movie goer reactions to the movie. I'll have to think of something good to say!
But New York and New Jersey being washed away, and Hollywood being blown away, why does anyone think there is any problem with global warming?
LOL
geesh, such a lecture for the intent to cough up one buck at a dollar-theater screening a couple of months from now.
Yup, that's exactly the attitude I'm talking about: "It's only one dollar." Oh, the rationalizations we create up to justify the betrayal of our principles.
Over the past fifty years, conservatives and moderates have rationalized ourselves into a society where a relatively small minority of communists, socialists, criminals, freaks, and perverts run our country. Why? Because those who would destroy our constitution and our country don't rationalize: they act! But as long as you can go have your little fun at a Saturday movie matinée, why do you care?
You see, you are missing the big picture: it's the SMALL daily sacrifices in our life that can make the biggest difference. Most conservatives think that if they take off from their busy schedules and attend a big pro-conservative rally once a year, that they have really accomplished something. What they fail to realize is that all the little things they do in their daily lives that actually support the Left are what really add up to something. Your one dollar--combined with the hundreds of thousands of other "one dollar" spending conservatives--will send a big message (and a fat paycheck) to the Michael Moore's and the Al Gore's of this world. Why not buy Hillary Clinton's book while you're at it?
The problem is that it's not just you living in a vacuum: it's the combined actions of millions of people who either don't think about the effects of their actions, or simply don't care ("it's only a dollar").
Take Disney Corp. That company has become a Leftist powerhouse (remember, Disney's subsidiary, Miramax, funded the production of Michael Moore's new "Fahrenheit 911" agitprop). Imagine if 90% of conservatives stopped doing business with Disney: stopped attending Disneyland and Disneyworld, stopped attending Disney movies, stopped buying Disney DVD's, stopped watching Disney TV programming, stopped shopping at Disney stores, stopped buying Disney merchandise, etc. Do you think they'd still cater to the homosexual activists? Do you think they'd still be making Michael Moore movies? Do you think they'd still be producing anti-family children's cartoons, TV shows, and movies? Or do you think they'd fire all their Leftist board members and executives and return to traditional values?
Think about it.
Another juicy rationalization (read my post #37).
Even if you didn't pay for the tickets yourself, you are still filling the theater seats--and attendance records are just as important as box office sales figures. Even if the movie distributors didn't track that data, your presence in the theater will give support to the other people who attend (mob effect), and give fuel to the eager media who will be watching and reporting on the crowd at the event. (And you KNOW they won't air any negative comments you might make so you can forget about that rationalization.)
If you really want to make a difference, tear up the tickets and write a letter explaining why you wouldn't go watch this movie--even for free. Then send them to the local theater where the movie is playing. Or send them to 20th Century Fox (the movie's distributor).
And you forgot the modern day city of Sodom: San Francisco. Makes me want to go out and burn more fossil fuels.
