WASHINGTON -- About two months after the Red Cross warned US commanders of widespread prisoner abuses, the commanding general at the Abu Ghraib prison assured the Red Cross in a confidential letter that Iraqi detainees were being given the best treatment possible and that even more ''improvements are continually being made."

Most of our media (left/liberal) are putting the news about General Sanchez up front with nasty inferences that our military is lying about his move being a regular rotation. The Karpinsky news is more interesting, but of the few reporting about her, the same media outlets are either not investigating her part in the affair thoroughly enough, or they are intentionally covering for her. Are the news media trying to protect their previous injections of feminism into the military?

Yes, she was set up. Her superiors told her to sit on her cow butt and have no clue what was going on under her own command.

Why does this woman remind me of Janet Reno?

Anyone familiar with the Peter Principle might be amused that a PFC and a Brig Gen could both qualify within the same department for the same biological reason; 'tis a wacky world...

And not also, Anti-Bubba182, the following quote from the column excerpted, where it mentions "December."

"Karpinski said in the interview yesterday that by late December military intelligence officials were basically running the prison..."

Karpinski allowed discipline to flag to a dangerous low. For that she deserves to be busted. She didn't even require saluting superior officers or attention to unifrom of the day! What the hell did she think she could do, run the unit like she wants the military to be, a touchy-feely frat house? What an empty uniform she has shown herself to be!

If you can break one rule, you can break them all.

Her job was to run the prison, not M.I, if they ended up in charge,it's her fault.

She's going to start singing loud....She'll need another set of hands and will be pointing those fingers in every direction.

She's trying that...it's everyone's fault but her own. Why would anyone expect a commander to know what's going on in their command or to be in charge of their troops.

Set up ? A little projection into the real cause of Abu Gharib. Micheal Moore did say he had camera men in Iraq.

Personally, I want to know how the various "guilty parties" voted in the last election.
It's all just too "perfect", politically speaking.

[not that I think any of this was intentional or anything]....;)

I've read elsewhere that the photos were shot in October, so she was definitely still in charge when the incidents garnering the media's attention occurred. Put this whining loser behind bars where she belongs.

Dear General Karpinsky:

Will you please fall on your sword? Do you not get it that it is your duty here to end this? Somebody with a star on the lapel has to go down; you're it.

It's not even wrong that you're it because you were it. It really did happen on your watch. And you are, after all, ma'am, a general officer. In the name of all that is right and holy, do your troops, and the rest of the troops that are not yours, and the entire United States military -- and indeed the entire United States -- a big favor. Do your duty. Fall on your sword.

And then STFU.

Consider it a hand grenade that has rolled into the tent. "It's not my hand grenade" doesn't cut it. Fall on the damned thing. It's your job.
