Interesting. Gotta go, y'all have a nice evening.
I'll bet the note was signed by Al Gore.
Seems odd, with the clear threats put forward yesterday by Ashcroft, the President would be crusing around in a big ol blue and white 747. On approach these things come in real low. Seems risky with all the islamos in country. Even with all of it's safe guards on board. I know at LAX these things come in close enough to hit with a rock at almost a half mile out on approach. Makes me wonder if these threats are real, or if they are just trying to divert attention.
To the north Texans here, were finally about to get some rain again. Big time lightning here in south FW. Pouring too. Weatherord has a bigger one with hail heading this way, stay safe. quarter hail, 60 mph gusts.
Well, at any rate, whoever left the note was evacuated at landing. Unless they got off at a connecting point, else American has quit doing pre-board plane checks.
Thanks for the update! I was having trouble, believe it or not to find stories on this online.
Brilliant move. What were they going to do, shoot it down if it headed for the Grand Ole Opry?

Re#14 True
Except, er, causing terror?
Terrorists and their sympathisers are generally not the brightest of individuals.

I would doubt that anyone who left this alleged note got off at any connecting point, as flight attendents check the bathrooms on or before approach. All those that were evacuated are still at the airport being interrogated. My post wasn't directed at this specific note incident, but rather looked at the bigger picture.
In light of Ashcrofts warning yesterday, if it was indeed real, I find it rather odd. The President could easily use any of several unmarked aircraft or other aircraft that are used as decoys to travel in. It just seems like the danger to the President would be great or maybe even extreme flying at 400 feet on approach, traveling at 200 mph. At that distance, not a lot can be done to avoid getting hit by some determined attacker with the right weapon. His escort at that point would be close to useless, most likely.
I'd rather see the President flying in a fighter jet at this point. LOL!
;)
Sorry. I was typing everything the reporter was saying and didn't stop to think about WHAT she was saying.
I don't think this terrified anyone. It inconvenienced a lot of people and probably made them angry. But if this is a terrorist incident, it failed.
I know what you mean, approach areas are not protected.
You really have serious concerns that President Bush is having his subordinates lie about the increased risk of a terrorist attack in the next few months? Perhaps we're faking those Islamic website messages about them being 90% ready?
Gosh, maybe Osama should release a video denying all that and exposing Bush for the liar he is.
Very good point! What good would a fighter escort be for a commercial aircraft, even if it had a bomb on-board, but to ensure that it didn't become a giant cruise missile.
Probably not the Grand ole Oprey. But, how about the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital?
You bet. They are not only not protected, but most approaches to major airports are the low class districts where the jet noise and jet exhaust rule the day. I know at LAX, the main approaches are directly over some senseless murder districts and other hostile zones.
I don't know about your town, but traveling around LA freeways one can look up at just about any freeway overhead sign and see big ol, *large* caliber bullet holes in them. Some without rust marks on them. And these are just the local, basic idiots doing this. You can imagine what a trained islamo wacko could do with the right tools.
If this is *true*, clearly it would seen to me, the President is at risk flying this massive American Icon into major airports. I don't know, it just kind of makes sense to be that it would be pretty risky, even with their OB defensive systems, at this point in the game. I am just guessing here. LOL!
What a terrible decision I hope they never have to make.
