Bush Leads Kerry in Ohio (New Poll)
Plain Dealer ^ | 5/30/2004 | RepublicanWizard

President Bush leads John Kerry by 6 percentage points in the battle for Ohio, a state that could decide who wins the White House, according to a statewide Plain Dealer poll.

Ohio voters surveyed say they favor Bush over Kerry, 47 percent to 41 percent. Consumer advocate Ralph Nader draws 3 percent, though he has yet to qualify for the Ohio ballot. Nine percent say they are undecided.

Though Bush is given low marks for his handling of the economy and the war in Iraq, those who say they favor him cite his moral character and his stewardship over the war on terrorism and homeland security as reasons.

Lots of voters sampled. Highly accurate poll. I have a feeling June could be our first great month in a while. In any event, this is a great way to start the summer. Celebrate my fellow Republicans!

This would be great news if true. Looks like even RINO Bob Taft can't ruin it for Bush (not that Taft isn't trying).

I'd be curious to know on which page of Sunday's edition the Cleveland Plainly Democrat puts the news of this poll.

Damn, that sucks. I guess the press will have to wait for another Zogby poll before they release Ohio poll news. ;-)

Since we are doing multiple treads here...
I respect the fact that you have been a member of this forum since Dec 28, 1998....
...but I am not quite sure what you mean.
I was attempting to direct the discussion on THIS thread (and on the OTHER duplicate thread) back to the ORIGINAL thread, where many thoughtful replies had already been posted.

My post was also intended to promote the posting guidelines established HERE:

Vanity On Duplicate Threads
Posted on 05/17/2002 8:17:18 AM PDT by Admin Moderator

This is just a reminder that before one posts an article, one should check to see if the article has been previously posted in order to avoid duplication.

Duplication causes several problems...
...It fragments discussion.

In general, moderators will pull duplicate postings when we are alerted to them or when we notice them. This has the benefit of eliminating the "spam" effect and it helps keep discussion from being fragmented. However, it does not really save system resources, and it can be frustrating when one is about to reply to a thread and it vanishes (due to being a duplicate). A better solution is for people to take care to ensure they are not posting a duplicate...

Sorry for the confusion. :o)

I think you're starting to see some backlash. A lot of "common folk" know what a tough job and tough circumstances Bush is dealing with and don't like all the never-ending bashing and second-guessing.

This is amazing, given the current media and recent political news. Very encouraging. If Kerry can't play in Ohio he is not going to be prez. Ohio and Michigan were the most Kerry leaning swing states, while Pennsylvannia and Florida looked like they'd have to balance them for Bush to win a close election. If Kerry doesn't get two of those he can't do it.

I have a feeling June could be our first great month in a while.

That's if there's not yet another "scandal","bombshell" 60 Minutes allegation, blowup in Iraq, terrorist attack, bizarre accusation, big jump in oil prices, etc. The pattern is at least one of those things a month. Let's pray to God to protect the nation and President Bush in these months ahead.

They're in denial mode -- doubting that such a big swing is possible; doubting the intentions of the pollster; doubting the intentions of the paper that published the poll; doubting the polling methods; doubting the sample; thinking it's a fluke.

In short, they sound a lot like we do when we encounter a poll we don't like ;)

What's interesting is seeing some of our standard commentary on the polls, only in reverse. We'll point out that a disappointing poll has sampled only adults or registered voters and find some relief in that. They, on the other hand, are comforting themselves with the fact that this Ohio poll samples *likely voters*, which skews the results in the Republicans' favor (of course, sampling likely voters actually unskews the results, but that's the sort of thing they're clinging to over there).

This is very good news but its at least the third posting today.

After the month we've had, we deserve to revel in it.

You know I went to get some holiday treats yesterday, and I overheard a coversation between two guys, having coffee. This took place in a liberal enclave near where I live. The guys were "hipster" looking types. They were discussing some anti-war rally taking place this weekend, and one noted that the same "anti-war" types who say Bush didn't do enough to prevent 9-11, are against The Patriot Act. I am telling you that there is a huge pro-Bush contingent out there. They will be heard in November, when it counts.

Contact the Republican party offices in your area and volunteer. There is so much we each can do to keep this lead and make it even bigger. We have to keep working hard until the vote so that Kerry doesn't take over in a last minute rally.
