Ananova:
'Killer swan on the loose'
Residents of a Nottinghamshire village fear a swan on their local pond could have become a killer in its attempt to protect its family.
Two dogs swimming in the pond in Warsop have gone missing, and witnesses say they saw one of them being drowned by the cob, or male swan.
They say they saw the bird use its powerful wings to batter the springer spaniel before holding it underwater with its beak.
The Daily Mail says it's believed the cob may have been acting out of fear that its mate and newly-born cygnets were under threat.
Now the RSPCA is warning other dog owners to keep their pets under control near the pond.
George Kennedy, who witnessed the attack on the dog, said: "The dog was swimming in the water, chasing the wildfowl, when the cob went for it.
"He just rushed up, hissing, reared up and hit the dog with his flapping wings.
"That seemed to stun it. Then he pulled the dog under the water. It was over in the blink of an eye - the dog didn't stand a chance."
That can't be that uncommon because in high school swans used to chase my buddy and I on his jet skis!
Honk.
Oh sure, blame the Swans. Don't think of the likely suspects - asians.
(When a Korean says, "How much is that doggie in the window", he means by the pound.)

Now if they could only teach it to recognize liberals... |
Pop a cap in the Cob.
LOLOL
They have no hands. All one has to do is turn around and punch it in the face.
Cruel Cob tricks: One plastic poodle decoy. Fill with TNT. Light and push off shore.
Cobs?! Cygnets?! What sort of alien fowl do they raise up in Nottinghamshire?
Swans are protected. It is illegal to kill them in the UK. Hard on the dog owners, but it is their responsibility to have the dog on a leash.
Swan:
Cob is the male, Pen is the female and the young are the Cygnets
When we were in New Zealand I walked around a pond to get a better look at a black swan. Swans can move pretty fast over dry land too.......... So can I when I have a swan after me.
Isn't that just like those snobbish swans? Cock, hen and chicks is just too declasse.
Little dogs can be cute, but they just don't seem like real dogs to me.
