Two years ago, Eagle Scout Samuel Nassie of Paradise spent most of Memorial Day alone in a cemetery raising flags on veterans' graves.
Two other Scouts helped but said they had to leave early, Nassie recalled. He refused to leave the task unfinished. Sweat poured off his body as he wandered the grassy grounds to post the last of about 1,600 flags. He discovered that many graves at the Paradise Cemetery could not be identified using existing maps.
"The veterans deserved to be honored for what they did," said Nassie, now 16. "I knew there had to be a better way."
That day, Nassie began a quest of honoring those who served the nation during war and are buried in Paradise. He would spend hundreds of hours locating and documenting veterans scattered across 23 acres......"

And where is this, in California? I hope he has the energy to also take them down because, let me guess, the flags will banned because the liberal elitist scum in Cali that leech off the sacrifices of our vets will declare that "Divisive statements or actions, political or religious discussions and anything else that could be divisive or mean different things to different people are not appropriate in our community."
It is wonderful to read a story like this after so much teen trash in the media. Watch out, the ACLU might try to take his scholarships!
Yes, included in that "anything else" is display of the American flag. It has been equated to hate speech, the flag supposedly being confrontational to "anti-war" one-worlders who consider old glory and patriotism to be no more than jingoism.
Kudos to this young man.
He's an Eagle Scout, and thus already completely politically incorret, so this additional "black mark" probably won't hurt him a bit. I suspect if they did do anything in "retaliation", he would already "be prepared", and spit in their eye. Metaphorically speaking. In reality I suspect he'd be much more creative than that, and more effective too.

The 2004 Eagle Scout Scholarship winner is Samuel James Nassie of Paradise, California. Samuel is a member of Troop 770, sponsored by the Craig Memorial Church in Paradise.
He is the 16 year old son of Donald and Linda Nassie. His father is self employed and his mother is a teacher.
Samuel passed his board of review for his Eagle in August 2001 and has earned a total of 51 Merit Badges including American Heritage, Genealogy and Law.
Samuel has acted in many leadership roles including Junior Assistant Scoutmaster. He is a member of the prestigious camping society, The Order of the Arrow and has served as Lodge Chief.
He has earned or been awarded the National Boy Scout “Medal of Merit” Award, William T. Hornaday Award for Distinguished Service to Conservation, The Young American Award, Medal of Honor Leadership recognition, The United States Heritage Award, Western Region Leadership Conference Award and U. S. Congressional Flag Award.
Samuel has earned the “God and Live Award, God and Church Award, God and Family Award and served as the Chaplain’s Aide for Troop 770. He is Co-editor of his school’s newspaper, member of the school’s baseball team, plays 1st trumpet in the school band and carries a 4.0 Grade Point Average. He was the State finalist in the VFW “Voice of Democracy” essay contest, DAR essay winner. His hobbies include Civil War Reenacting, Vintage Car restoration, Rock Climbing & Fishing. Samuel is sponsored by the General George Washington Chapter, SAR of Chico.
Samuel will be honored at a luncheon to be held on April 3, 2004 in Chico, CA where he will be awarded a “Spread Winged Eagle” statuette and a check for $750.00.
We can also announce that Samuel is the winner of the National Sons of American Revolution Scholarship and will be honored with an expense paid roundtrip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the Sons of the American Revolution Annual Congress. At a luncheon to be held on July 5, 2004 he will be awarded a check for $8000.00.
