"He could simply give America the finger. After all, it is what he really thinks of people who don't support him."

It's what he thinks of everybody, non-supporters and supporters alike. 99.9% of Americans are just "little people" who desperately need to be herded by a wordly, wise, super man like John Delano Kerry.

I have a novel idea.

Instead of some catchy phrase from a poem, why doesn't he simply sell himself and his vision - while telling the truth?

His slogans would go something like this:

"Let's Finally Make America A Socialist State!"

"Hanoi? Washington? What's The Difference? Who Cares!!??"

"Life's Too Hard. Let The UN Do It!"

"I Don't Just Lie About My Record, I Lie About Everything!"

"Money Is The Root Of All Marriage!"

"Get The USA Out And Let The UN in!"

"Terrorists Are Just People Too!"

"Dubya Is A Big Meenie! Vote For ME!!"

"Ho! Ho! Ho Chi Minh! The NLF and I Sure Did Win!!"

"Vote For Me. I'll Increase Your Welfare Benefits!"

"I am Not Hillary Clinton!"

Hmmm. Looking over his truthful options, I can see why he has picked his lines from obscure poems nobody reads.

uh-huh, and didn't Hughes, with determination, hard work, education (taken, not handed out), clear english, and self-discipline, live a life worth living? Did he not gain material needs and or experience happiness?

Sounds like the American Dream worked for him.

Yeah, most people who don`t follow politics don`t realize he is a Frenchy. They see the Kerry name, see Ted "Blotto" Kennedy along side him and assume he is a Mass Irish Kennedy type. My mother who is one of those, one of the "undecided" wouldn`t believe me if I told her. She was as everyone else, really teed off with that whole French backstabbing thing in the UN "After we were attacked they won`t help us?" so if this French side of him was publicized more, Ouch, forget it, he`s finished!! Maybe Republicans should make a commercial of him with le French beret and music?

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, an expert on political messages

An expert????? A Presidential contender, with Communist sympathizer baggage, related to his one seeminlgy qualifying attribute (did you know Kerry served in Viet Nam), citing a commmunist sympathizer ????

Thanks for making me do a closer read.

From his bio: "The 1950s brought the Cold War and the horrors of Senator Joseph McCarthy's ... Holding fast to his own dream of sustaining his career as a writer, Hughes salvaged his image as a loyal American citizen by insisting that the pro-Communist works he had published no longer represented his thinking. ..... He retained speaking engagements and his works continued to sell, but he lost the respect of some political activists. Communists bitterly resented the way he abandoned professed members of the party......Hughes chose self-preservation and sustained his career as a writer.

Sounds a lot like John "Fonda" Kerry doing a flip-flop.

"Let America Be America Again Where No Butler, Gardner, Housemaid, Cook, Groundskeeper, Deckhand, Personal Servant Or Below-The-Stairs Worker Is Ever Uppity, Sassy, Disrespectful Or Questions An Instruction!" Geez, if we could only take Back Bay, the Cape, the Vineyard and Georgetown back to the safe, good old days!!

"KERRORISM - It'll Keep America Safe As France!"

"Don't Be Mean To The Kerrorists And They Won't Be Mean To You!!"

"Nuance Means Respecting Those Of A Higher Class!"

"You Wouldn't Catch President Kerry Vacationing in The United States!"

"Al-Qaeda and Kerrorists Know What's Best For America!"

"Kerry - Applying the Lessons Learned In Desertion and Treason!"

"Kerry - A Great Senator When He Bothered To Show Up!"

Right, we could have Bush voter bumper stickers:

"John Kerry gave me the finger"

This guy gets mad so easily, giving the finger here, asking if the questioner at a townhall meeting is a republican, the "I don't fall down" secret serviceman incident, the union fiasco when he 'thought' his mic was off and on and on.

I think that baiting him in debates and on the campaign trail could be done quite easily.

People will see a brash, uncontolled buffoon real quickly, not the kind of person to be president.

Typical Democratic arrogance - if there is a Republican president, America has ceased to be America. And this coming from the people who DO want to end America as we know it - relinquish our sovereignty to the U.N. and other international NGO's and treaties; nullify the 2nd Amendment and the entire Constitution via judicial fiat and appeals to international law; and sever all ties with our Judeo-Christian heritage.

"Let America be America again. Let it be the dream it used to be."

America used to speak English.
America used to be a melting pot.
America used to teach morals in school.
America used to hold marriage was between a man and a woman.
America used to respect unborn life.

The dream used to be to benefit from your own labor.
The dream used to be a safe nation.
The dream used to be a free world.

Kerry's America was never my America, Kerry's dream is not mine.

"Let America be America again."

To a Jetset, playboy, gigolo lap poodle to a filthy rich heiress, that phrase would have a much different meaning than it would to your average sweat for a living regular American. (borrowing a little terminology from former candidate John Edwards, there) To Kerry it would mean a time when the peons worked longer hours for less pay and were too timid to ask for a raise or even speak up in their own defence. A time when such as himself were treated like royalty and pampered by scraping and bowing hordes, whever they went.

The rest of us won't like the America being America again, dream of the uppity, snobbish, boorish, self worshipping Mr. Kerry. His delusion has us paving the path he struts upon, so his fancy Italian slippers don't get muddy.

If we were seeking an Emporer, Kerry would be perfect for the job. Presidential material, he is not.

Better we let the United States of America be the United States of America the Constitution was designed to make it.

The New York Times is made up of a desperate bunch of liberal idiots. Those people are so delusional of what the American people think or like. I am glad that the New York Times is our enemy because they are very stupid.

It wouldn't be led by Kerry, that's for sure.
