I'm not IT anymore, but having done it in a past life gives me a little in with the IT department here. They know I know how hard they bust ass in an utterly thankless job, and I make sure they know I appreciate them doing it so I don't have to.

And when they're passing out nice fast PCs and huge new monitors, strict seniority isn't always observed. It pays to be nice. :)

I'm in IT. We've got one employee who loves to forward "adult" emails to his buddies at work. He's smart enough to include IT on that list of buddies.
