The Pro-Life Movement: Something We Can ALL Do, Part II

Part I

The first article offers some context for this one. I will summarize my commute and the peoples' reactions to the gruesome image on the back.

The 8x11 picture got many looks and gawks. Especially in the morning, a woman pulled up in an SUV and looked at me with mouth gaping.

During the middle part of the day I took a walk followed by lunch. I noticed happenstance a young man looking closely at the taped printout on the back window. He was probably not the only one who stopped for a closer look.

No one flipped the bird (and this is Seattle - a major pro-abortion nexus), probably because the picture contained no text. Do not put any text on these images, should you display them. This is one of the mistakes, I believe, of CBER - the slogans and analogies, while true, are easily interpreted as snide remarks on a very sensitive topic. No, let your viewers draw THEIR OWN conclusions from the image itself. They are far more likely to view the issue introspectively this way. It may cause some pain. But it WILL have an effect on some people; rarely can an image have such a powerful impact.

This is something I will not do everyday because of the gruesomeness of the material. It was difficult for me, honestly, as it requires one's willingness to stand out in a crowd. However: it will become a custom that every day following a court strikedown of a law protecting innocently life I WILL tape up one of these images to my vehicle the following day. This would be an EXCELLENT tradition for the pro-life community at large...

It is also, I fear, on of the only ways we are truly going to change minds among anonymous fellow Americans - enough minds to effect an electoral difference large enough to reverse current trends in the courts. People can write and complain to CBER and other groups. They cannot do this with private individuals who act on their own.
