Five Quick Reasons Why Tenet's Resignation will HELP President Bush and the GOP

This is a good development for the following reasons:
1) It will distract from the prison scandal -- which the public will begin to forget about.
2) It will be seen as a sign that the president is holding people accountable for perceived intelligence failures.
3) Tenet likes Bush personally (far, far better than he liked Clinton) and is more likely to write a Clinton-bashing book that a Bush-bashing book.
4) Confirmation hearings are a great way for the GOP to showcase Democrat obstructionism and shrillness -- which will not play well with the public.
5) Confirmation hearings will distract from the 'Rat Convention and draw public attention, reducing any "bounce" Kerry would normally get -- because coverage of the convention will be reduced by coverage of hearings.
All and all, this is VERY good news.
Feel free to weigh-in here with your opinion.

True, but it is better late then never. At this point, Tenet was a mere albatross.

Here's another good reason, maybe they'll replace him with somebody who actually does his job.

Wonder if there is any relationship between this news and the news about Bush retaining counsel in the agent leak investigation?

2) It will be seen as a sign that the president is holding people accountable for perceived intelligence failures. Agreed on all counts... but: #2 (above) especially.

My first thought? The perfect position for Rudy. Go Rudy go! Timing is perfect. I had thought he would be vp (prep for pres) but it seems Cheney is going strong. This will give him a LOT of visibility.

That double agent Dem scum should have been fired the day Bush took office along with the FBI director at the time too!
Oh well I guess it took Bush 3+ years to truly learn what back stabbers Dems "IS"!

I still would like to see the list of all responsible for "sensitivity training" and the "sensitivity quilt" 20,000-manhour waste of time.

I always thought he should have been relieved when the President took office, but my Dad (a home-styled curmudgeon) disagreed, saying that for Intelligence agencies, "It's best to have those camel's inside the tent peeing out, than vice versa."
Best thing is, the "prison" scandal will more likely fade away.

Democrats are allready patting themselves on the back for having "brought him down" Unfortunately they aren't letting the facts get in their way this time either. It was conservatives who called for his resignation immediately after 9/11.
I'm not a fan of Louis Freeh but he did seem to recognize the threat and tried to warn clinton about it. Unfortunately clinton was too preoccupied with imaginary right wing terrorists to be bothered with Bin Ladens declaration of war.
