Tax law forbids political activity by churches. Actually, I think the law blocks Churchs from helping Republicans. But the law must have a loophole for Dems, because I see Church buildings and Church services being used by Dems all the time.

"A month ago, Kerry hired a "director of religious outreach": Mara Vanderslice. The 29-year-old evangelical Christian, who has worked for church-based programs on international hunger and health, is on her first campaign."

I'd also wager church attendees have fewer children out of wedlock, lower rates of drug abuse, and less run ins with law enforcement.

Republicans target the most faithful for political conversion so aggressively that critics say they skirt the law. You've got to love the brazen bias of the "unbiased" media.

He faces objections from conservative Catholics that he has failed to follow the dictums of the church closely enough. This is incorrect. If this were correct, it would be as if someone were saying 'Kerry is not pro-life enough'. No Kerry is 180% from the teaching of the church and his Pope. He has promoted abortion on demand and has innocents blood on his hands. Catholics who vote for Kerry, vote against the Pope and their church.

[Barry Lynn, president of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, calls the e-mail "a breathtakingly bad merger of religion and politics" that asks churches to violate their tax-exempt status.]
Ever notice that Barry Lynn never complains about RAT friendly churches.

This was a somewhat interesting article. Although I notice that it implies that there is something bad about republican catering to conservative christians but was oddly silent in criticizing democrats annual pilgramage to the black churches or other liberal churches on the sunday before the elections
As George Will once said people don't have a problem with a political point of view being expressed from the pulpit....providing of course that they agree with the point of view being expressed.
