"But Dell, along with Apple Computer Inc. and others, stopped using PBDEs in 2002"

All my Dell laptops and desktop are post-2002.
Is it safe for me to get out of the shower now?

Well, according to Joycelyn Elders: "we will all probably die of something, someday....and, I'm not downplaying that!".

Electronics companies began using polybrominated diphenyl (PBDEs) and other flame retardants in the 1970s, arguing that the toxins prevent fires and cannot escape from plastic casings.

OMG, just when you think it can't get worse, they tell you your computers may get you. Well, if so we Freepers will go out in good company together and I would like to say that I always liked y'all......even the moderators.:)

Oh for crying out loud. Even if there is a threat, these yoyos are just throwing a fit about computers? As if the manufacturing principle of a computer (semiconductors soldered to a printed circuit board made of flame-retardant FR4 fiberglass then encased in a zinc plated metal and plastic box) is any different than that of manufacturing a stereo, microwave oven, clock radio, remote control, digital camera, automobile EPA emissions controller, etc etc ad naseum.

Dell Inc. and many other computer makers continue using a flame retardant related to PBDEs on circuit boards. They use lead, mercury and other toxins in central processing units and monitors. But Dell, along with Apple Computer Inc. and others, stopped using PBDEs in 2002.

"Dude, you're still getting a Dell!"

It's more dangerous than brushing your teeth, but less dangerous than shampooing your hair, which according to a recent study may rot the brain.

Also looming as a tragic threat is beauty parlor syndrome:

"The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and several other organizations have confirmed that PCBs damage brains of human fetuses. "

So does partial birth abortion, directly and deliberately. All abortions do indirectly. Naturally (pun intended) the collectivist enviro-socialists just haven't gotten around to speaking up for the fetuses, too much class warfare benefit to be gained for now.
