Looks like the Pope almost has a smile in that third photo...
The Pope and the President look very happy to see each other. You can tell that even if they disagree, they have tremendous respect for each other.
About an hour of so ago,I was watching the Catholic Cable TV-EWTN and Raymond Arroyo on "THE WORLD OVER" was covering the President's visit to Pope John Paul 11.He said that it was very cordial and another lady(didn't catch her name)who was there said it was very cordial.The other comments that were made by this lady was that the although the Pope indicated his disapproval of the war,he was very approving(word?)by the new Iraqi government and how things are moving along.Please folks,don't pay any attention of the mainline press. The Pope likes this president.I also got the impression when George H.W.Bush visited Pope John Paul 11 that he was liked as well,going by the warm and friendly handshake the Holy Father gave to #41.
What terrific pictures. My heart goes out to the Pope, but I must admire his staying power as you know he must not feel well. Reminds me of W, who in spite of everything just keeps on keeping on. God Bless them both!
