Go figure? Bush is easy to figure--he's a politician who takes conservatives for granted, throws us crumbs and does what he thinks helps him, not the country. Bush could have easily stayed out of the Toomy-Specter primary and just let the voters decide, but by siding vigorously with Specter against a pro-life VIABLE candidate, some shallow conservatives continue to excuse/overlook/ignore all of Bush's anti-conservative actions/policies/pronouncements. Bush makes our side look ridiculous, hypocritical and stupid, IMHO, when we give him a pass for all his missteps and misdeeds.

Cheers,

You hit the nail on the head.

Humphreys would be a very good senator, one that I would trade either of my current GOP senators for. However, Coburn would be a GREAT senator. He is a principled conservative first, and a Republican second. This scares the GOP establishment.

Coburn is also the most electable candidate, having won three times in a predominantly Democrat rural eastern Oklahoma district. He was succeeded in Congress by Brad Carson, the probable Rat nominee. Carson has good name recognition in normally GOP Tulsa, and would run better there against Humphreys than against Coburn. Coburn would also neutralize some of the rural margins that could be run up by Carson.

Eastern Oklahoma (the Tulsa media market) is the battleground in this race. OKC/western OK will swing to the GOP, regardless of the candidate.

Both candidates would be good, but Coburn is more electable, and more of a conservative gadfly.

Duh. Read what I was responding to, I was speaking of the Specter/Toomey race.

I support Coburn as well, and I have absolutely no doubt that he will win the primary, so it's elementary. I just grow weary of so-called 'conservatives' that bash Bush at every turn while they sit in their Ivory Tower and look down at those actually in the trenches actually doing something.

I believe that Humphreys is a close personal friend of Inhofe's, and it is not philosophy guiding that connection but friendship. Correct me if I am wrong. I would also imagine that Coburn is seen as anti-establishment, and Inhofe wants to be "in" with the establishment. Let's hope that Largent doesn't endorse Coburn!

It is also widely feared by many rank-and-file Republicans in OK that Humphreys (for what reasons I know not) would be defeated by the Democrat Brad Carson; so what is Inhofe up to?

A few weeks ago, I was lurking on another news forum on the OK GOP primary. One poster called Coburn a RINO for violating his term limit pledge. Coburn pledged to serve no more 3 terms in his House seat. He honored that pledge. However the poster said a term limit pledge means no more running for any kind of political office. Thus he continued to berate Coburn as a RINO Socialist. Some conservatives are just plain unappeasable.

"Some conservatives are just plain unappeasable."

You noticed! I was beginning to think I was the only one!

I mean, they call the most conservative guy in the race a RINO because they read crap into his pledge, but they don't like the other guy because he's not conservative enough.

But they like Toomey, because they hate Specter, but they won't like Toomey when he starts campaigning for Specter, and then he also will be a RINO sellout.

Bush is a RINO because he supported Specter, and because of his 'Amnesty' plan (which doesn't exist). Santorum (who's got an 88 from the ACU) is also a RINO for not supporting Toomey, who's going to be supporting Specter, and then they won't like him.

It's mindboggling. Makes my brain hurt.

Coburn would be a great senator. Too bad the Republican Party would rather elect a liberal Democrat than a Republican who would threaten their spending orgy.

Nickles, Inhofe, and Watts endorsed Humphreys BEFORE Dr. Tom Coburn entered the race. The Big 3 had no idea that Coburn planned on entering the race.

My sources tell me that Nickles & Inhofe staff work for Coburn behind the scenes. In fact, Coburn's Campaign Manager resigned from the staff of Sen. Inhofe in order to help Coburn.
