As I understand it, the entire logo & "red theme" is a tongue in cheek jab at those who call open source software communist. Considering that the Mozilla Project was started by Netscape, which is a division of the very capitalistic AOL/Time Warner, I seriously doubt that it's "communist software".

Seems also to act as effective bait for catching simple-minded tinfoil hat wearers too.
