As my Mom wathced the various reports and coverage of the processional to the rotunda, she called me reagrding the Nightly News where the anchor said the following:

"The numbers of people lining up to pay their final respects to Ronald Reagan have surpassed all expectations...and they're still coming!"

My eyes welled up as I realized we were witnessing literal answer to prayer. I pray it continues and that when he returns to California, the same occurs up to and after his burial, that the lines to visit his grave, when it is opened to the public, continue the outpouring of love, respect, honor and realization.

Thank you Mr. President...even in your passing you are building hope and leading the nation to a better day. God rest and bless you...God comfort and bless your dear wife as she awaits with dignity your enventual reunion.

Our nation needs fixing. A bunch of fixing.

President Reagan did so much to fix it. It still needs fixing, but he has done so much more than the rest of us, and we need to stomp EVERYBODY who speaks against him. Not physically, but still flat.

President Reagan was and still is right.

Thanks for the ping

I am lucky enough to live in Santa Monica and I was able to pay my respects earlier. It is a priviledge to honor a great president.

"My eyes welled up as I realized we were witnessing literal answer to prayer"

Prayer is the only power that we really have, and I am convinced that it is the true power of Freerepublic. These threads bring the quickest and broadest call to prayer that can be made. The fact that Terri Schiavo is still alive is clear testimony to that.

DID you see this report from Kristinn at the MALL?

OVERWHELMING TURNOUT FOR REAGAN VIEWING AT CAPITOL, CROWDS SURGE PAST CAPACITY
June 10, 2004 | kristinn reporting in to tgslTakoma

Posted on 06/11/2004 12:00:59 AM EDT by tgslTakoma

Tens and tens of thousands of people have surged to the Capitol tonight, to pay their respects to President Reagan. The crowd has surged beyond all planned capacity, almost double what the authorities had planned for.

As of 11:45pm, the estimated wait time (given by Park Police officers on the scene) to get into the Rotunda is eight to eleven hours, meaning that those who are getting in line now have no chance of making it into the Rotunda before the 7am cut-off time for viewing.

The line begins at the west end (7th Street) of the National Air & Space Museum, and is snaking up and down the three-block length of the National Mall alongside the Museum; at least eight (8) times.

Those lines, in turn feed into the next block of similarly structured lines between 3rd and 4th Streets.

That segment, in turn feeds into yet another area at the Capitol Reflecting Pool! People are still getting in line at this time (11:53pm).

There are people from all cross-sections of society in line. Most families have left their young children at home, however.

The weather is perfect for an all night vigil.

Kristinn says he will call in later in the night with further updates.

As Bob Dole said earlier today, "Once again, Ronald Reagan has been underestimated."
