I've created an online petition getting the ball rolling for the creation of a monument/memorial to President Ronald W. Reagan.
An even better idea, rather than a petition, would be to work with a congresscritter or some other political bigwig to form a non-profit memorial organization for the express purpose of proposing, designing, and fundraising for a memorial instead.
THAT would be a better use of our time, imho :0)
I think a little more respect for Reagan's memory and legacy is in order.
What kind of monument/memorial are you thinking of? Something on the order of the Lincoln Memorial or smaller? Where are you thinking of locating it?
Chad,
I agree that would be a great course as well. Maybe someone else with that know-how and the connections can pick up that tact?
Regards,
Warren
Maybe. I think we should wait though, until after everything is over though. We can give him our proper respects now, and pursue this course of action after :0)
Everyone shows respect and honor in different ways. I felt that showing respect and honor in my own private silence wasn't enough for a man as great as this. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way.
True. However, there are better ways for you to honor Reagan. This isn't the time to be an internet huckster.
The feds won't allow any more presidential monuments in DC until the president has been dead for 25 years.
The monument needs to be in California--Southern Callifornia. It was here that Ronald Reagan lived and worked and yes, died. He loved the west so its fitting it sould be here. Maybe it should be a statue as grand as he was 100 foot tall, or a carving on the side of a mountain. Maybe a big smiling bust--looking up, towards the rising sun. At very least, his ranch should be made into a shrine for all the public to view. The Governor should lead the drive to fund such a thing--It should be paid for my the people--not the Government. Ronnie would like that.
For sure he should have a statue in the Rotunda.
