No. She said it was too long ago and that she wouldn't attend. They divorced in '48...

Michael gave a taped interview to Fox News a couple days ago. He and Ronald Reagan had a very good and special relationship. I am confident that the Reagan family is handling itself appropriately, and I don't think, for one instant, that the death of President Reagan has in any way opened an old wound in the family, or created any new one.

What's amazing about Michael Reagan is even though he is adopted, he does bear some resemblance to Ronaldus Magnus.

On another totally irrelevant note, my law school roommate is adopted and looks a helluva lot like his mother.

Nothing special. Apparently he was stuck in traffic and couldn't get there until an hour had passed.

IMHO, it will be interesting to see if the interaction between the Reagan family and Michael looks a little more
"positive" at the funeral on Friday.

There does seem to be a bit of distance between Michael's family and the rest. His only fault may be that he tries too hard, and maybe they feel he's exploited his name somehow. I'm not agreeing, just guessing that, with Patti and Ron resenting that they didn't get more from their dad, it wouldn't be surprising that they wouldn't look kindly on anyone who carried their dad's torch higher than they did. I think that's why Ron has problems with George W. Bush... it must burn him to hear so many compare Bush with his dad. In fact, W. is much more like Reagan than he is GHWBush.
As for Jane Wyman, I don't think there's been any formal statement from her...just word that she wouldn't appear and had told friends, in effect, "It was so long ago..."

Good heavens, I hope not. I still recall Patti in Playboy & Ron in a tutu. Doesn't get any more exploitative than that.

At least Michael has used the Reagan name in a manner RWR undoubtedly approved.

I've sent her a "thinking of you" greeting card a few times over the last 10 years, the last one when Showtime aired that vile miniseries with James Brolin chewing the scenery.

I heartily agree...Michael (along with dear Maureen) has been far more faithful to his father's beliefs than either Ron or Patti. It's interesting, too, that they repaid his perceived inattention by distancing themselves from him for so many years. What a waste.

Ironic that Ronald Reagan was able to heal the country (and a good part of the world) before he was able, through his own illness, to heal his family...

The press kept saying "it turns out that around 100,000 people wanted to show up at Simi Valley (or Washington) to show their respects."

NO!! MILLIONS wanted to come but had other responsibilities!!! These days, 100,000 show up at a football game or concert.

A song played on Larry King's closing had some lyric that reminded me of what Nancy might go through. It was called "In this room", and one line was something about how I can still feel you in the air I'm breathing in this room. How very hard each day will be for her.

Why is there NO TV coverage of it right now?? When Nancy IS home now, MIGHT turn on the TV, and yet NOTHING is there. What can we do?? I'm writing some of the networks.

"For You" ......from the "We Were Soldiers" Soundtrack by Johnny Cash and Dave Matthews is a song I suggest all take a peek at. I had the soundtrack for "The Mansions of the Lord" tune and "discovered" the "For You" tune. Albeit I'm not a big fan of Johnny's I liked that tune.

.

Johnny Cash's stirring 'For You' is the Battle of IA DRANG-1965 song of Lt. Col. HAL G. MOORE...

...which is then followed by...

Carolyn Dawn Johnson's lilting song 'Some Mother's Son,' Mrs. JULIE MOORE's favorite.

"FREEDOM needs a Soldier,
..until the Battle's won,
..a young girl's lover...
..a baby's father,
..SOME MOTHER's SON"

She was our Endearement.
