LIVE THREAD: Reagan State Funeral Ceremony: Arrival at the Capitol

Arrival at Andrews Air Force Base scheduled for 5 P.M. EDT.

Beginning of procession: 16th and Constitution at 6:00 P.M.

The procession begins at 16 th Street and Constitution Avenue with the ceremonial transfer of remains of former President Ronald Reagan from a hearse to a horse-drawn caisson for the processional to the Capitol. The casket transfer will take place at 6 p.m. and caisson continues east with formal military escort.

The public will be able to pay final respects while the remains lie in state in the Capitol rotunda from 7:00 p.m. through Friday, June 11, 2004 at 9:30 a.m.

I was wondering if Ronald wanted music to be played during the procession...

I think so. Reagan loved life and loved America. He'd not want an over amount of pious solemnity, I think.

Seems to me we haven't seen a TV event like this since Diana's funeral... although this is different in tone....wondering if people overseas made comparisons, etc.

WOW look at the people on the rooftops and it is SO quiet. I think that's great.

He lives in a beautiful barn on the grounds of Ft. Meyer. It is air-conditioned in the summer heat. All of the horses are magnificent!

I went back to CSPAN and it noticed it uses Windows media plater but it doesn't seem to work on my computer. I am so angry and depressed for missing this history!!!
