Torture victims of Saddam Hussein are warning the United States that their former tormentors are seeking new positions in Iraq by working with authorities in the U.S.-led occupation.
"Those are the enemies of the U.S. and of Iraq, the same people who burn the bodies of Americans," said Salah Zinad, 38. "Don't bring them back."

On the otherhand, if they could find pictures of Saddam with his two offspring dressed in Boy Scout unifoms holding tie racks they had made him for his birthday, now that would get some play for certain.
Goodness! That make folks feel that America was morally right to topple Saddam!
We should be rounding all baathists, fayedeens, republican guards, etc, hearing evidence against them, convicting and executing them. In other words there should not be many left alive or this thing starts all over again as soon as we "split". Kinder/gentler aint gonna cut it.
And does he feel alone with his disappointment?

I agree with Qasim Kadhim. The Iraqi's have better ability than we do to identify those who aligned with Saddam. I know they are frightened. They fear retaliation. They must come to realize that the risks of identification now while U.S. forces are capable of answering the threat, is minimal next to the jeopardy if Saddam loyalists are allowed to remained unidentified beyond the period of our stay in the country. If not for themselves they have to demonstrate courage on behalf of their children.
Come June 30 they can start cleaning house on their own. I am sure they know more about who's who in their own country than we do. I hope there will be a mass cleansing of the criminals after the hand over.
Goodbye Chalabi, Hello Re-Baathification!
One of my faves. I just love his show, America's Top Ten.
A lot of us are disappointed to Mr. Kadhim. I agree with Savage--we should have rounded up a lot of the Saddam regime and had public hangings. Too bad there's no backbone in the free world to do what needs to be done. Now the Islamonuts--they don't have to play by the rules.
Bump!
Saddam's torture wasn't nearly as evil, cruel, sadistic or abusive as an American soldier putting a leash on a terrorist. The media isn't biased, right? </sarcasm off>
That is one of the biggest mysteries of the war. WE HAVE THE MILITARY RECORDS LISTING THE NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF THE REPUBLICAN GUARD MEMBERS so why aren't we going after them. I'm sure they have, or know where, large storage facilities for heavy weapons and ammo. I doubt that we will even go after the ba'athists that were identified by these five Iraqis. Great mystery of the day.
With the press watching,
what could we do? Have them shot?
No. Put them in jail?
No, that gives the press
"concentration camp" stories.
Until Iraqis
are running Iraq
(and don't answer to our press)
there's nothing to do.
