I think we're going to get to your position, in this country.

But not until we lose probably hundreds of thousands here.

Until then, it will be one excuse after another not to act decisively. Simply because the population isn't there yet. But it will get there quickly once there's a major catastrophe. That's what it's going to take.

911 wasn't a big enough wake-up call for us. It's shocking to me that this is so.

What do you make of this????? statement from the UN.

Mohammed al Baradei, chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said it was a "race against time" to prevent terrorists from obtaining nuclear materials.

From article in about post.

An international agreement on ship and port security was drawn up by the United Nations' shipping body, the International Maritime Organization, in December 2002.

The code requires the IMO's 164 member nations to certify that their ships and ports have adopted anti-terrorist measures.

Ships must install alarms, designate a security officer and draw up detailed security plans, while ports have to be prepared to deal with terrorist threats.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I actually grew up in the near burbs, lived in NYC for a while, and now live in the far burbs on a fairly large tract of land that includes, a trout stream, lots of deer, coyote, turkey, and other kinds of wild life. The Catskill Mountain Preserve is less than an hours drive. In the not so distant past, I traveled to NYC two to three times a week or more for mostly business with pleasure mixed in, but now I go in only a couple times a month, although I've been in and out quite a bit more than that over the last few weeks. Traveling through the train stations and riding the subway are most stressful because they are the most vunerable to attack.

Humor Break:

You know you're from California if :

1. Your co-worker has 8 body piercings and none are visible.

2. You make over $300,000 and still can't afford a house.

3. You take a bus and are shocked at two people carrying on a conversation in English.

4. Your child's third-grade teacher has purple hair, a nose ring, and is named Breeze.

5. You can't remember . . is pot illegal?

6. You've been to a baby shower that has two mothers and a sperm donor.

7. You have a very strong opinion about where your coffee beans are grown, and you can taste the difference between Sumatran and Ethiopian.

9. You can't remember . is pot illegal?

10. A really great parking space can totally move you to tears.

11. A low speed police pursuit will interrupt any TV broadcast.

12. Gas costs $1.00 per gallon more than anywhere else in the U.S.

13. A man gets on the bus in full leather regalia and crotchless chaps, and you don't even notice (even without pants).

14. Unlike back home, the guy at 8:30 am. at Starbucks' wearing the baseball cap and sunglasses who looks like George Clooney really is George Clooney.

15. Your car insurance costs as much as your house payment.

16. Your hairdresser is straight, your plumber is gay, the woman who delivers your mail is into S & M, and your Mary Kay rep is a guy in drag.

17. You can't remember . . . is pot illegal?

18. It's barely sprinkling rain and there's a report on every news station: "Storm Watch!"

19. You have to leave the big company meeting early because Billy Blanks himself is teaching the 4:00 pm. Tae Bo class.

20. You pass an elementary school playground and the children are all busy with their cells or pagers.

21. It's barely sprinkling rain outside, so you leave for work an hour early to avoid all the weather-related accidents . . .

22. Hey!!!! Is Pot Illegal????

23. Both you AND your dog have therapists.

. . . and lastly

24. The Terminator is your governor.

See, this is why we need Federal reciprocity legislation using the 14th Amedment's Full Faith and Credit and Equal Protection clauses as well as the 2nd Amendment as Constitutional justification. If your driver's license is good in another state, so too, should your gun permit be valid and legal. Barring that, I wouldn't live in a yellow state and I durn sure wouldn't live in a red state!

But even many of the "Shall Issue" states are no great shakes for their restrictions and onerous red tape and training requirements. I'm pretty happy with the Florida model since we pioneered it, and of course, I consider the Vermont model to be ideal!

Personally, I don't think it's a race against time to prevent them from GETTING the nuke materials.

I believe they already have them.

I believe it's a race against time to prevent them from USING them.

I believe warning the public REALLY LAGS benind the learning curve of the officials and probably behind the reality at the grass roots terrorists levels.

I realize my convictions are likely in the minority--especially compared to several nuke experts hereon. I just believe that they delay in using them has more to do with massive logicstics coordination of diverse sorts of mass attacks and some puppet master priorities and God only knows what else.

I didn't realize until today that the South Korean man spoke Arabic also...and this article is interesting as far as he apparently was hoping to be a missionary in the ME, something else I had not heard.

Anyway, just thought this thread added some different insight into this guy.

I'm glad to hear about the wild critters where you live.

They really do teach us so much about the meaning of life.

Just sorry you have to go into the cities.

We have guns......many guns in our house....and the ammo to match. If the legality is questioned (although I doubt it would be here, in South Dakota) we would claim they are here for "pest control" "Pest Control" can be a rather dubious definition. Kind of like the meaning of "is" in Clinton speak.

While we ponder mass casualties, consider all the individuals dead (including our soldiers) and this little stat from our friends....

In three weeks, al Qaeda has executed 14 captive Americans or allied nationals in Saudi Arabia and Iraq by beheading or cutting their throats.

That's funny, I recently purchased a book from Paladin-Press.com on "How to Buy Land Cheap." It tells the exact procedures on scoping out land auctions which can be had for the amount of back taxes. Tells you how to ask so the doors don't slammed following the laughter.

"But why would he shoot the police officers and why would he have a pipe bomb?"

Classic case of "suicide by cop." I'll bet the bomb was last ditch insurance. Easier (psychologically) to detonate than to pull a trigger with the pistol in his mouth. I'll bet the cop got him.

My husband noted this week that he's never heard a single commercial on TV (and he watches a LOT of TV) that tells us to prepare for a catastrophic event, nor any radio announcements. He has heard Lauri Roth and commends her for the fine job she is doing to apprise people of what we face. If attacked here, I'm certain multiple millions will be homeless, foodless and totally unprepared. The map posted showing illegal Mexican immigration is utterly appalling. I remember someone in a previous TM thread stating illegals were breaking into boathouses and vacant homes along the coast and multiple people moving in opportunistically. If they are deported, they just keep coming back. There has to be some way to keep them from returning, possibly long term tent city prisons? At least they wouldn't be roaming our streets committing crimes, driving cars without licenses and who knows what elese.

As happened to us with our trip to Canada last week, the more obvious concern was whether we brought back prescription drugs... Is anyone relieved our border agents and immigration department are protecting our pharmaceutical companies? Blame our nation's elderly for trying to save a dollar or two for sidetracking the agents and putting terrorism on the back burner. Pfizer, Glaxo, Lilly and the rest of them should be pretty proud that our immigration protects THEM. We better get our priorities straight because our government's complicity in protecting pharmaceutical companies is without any doubt idiotic when our nation's biggest problems are - OPEN BORDERS - AND ILLEGAL ALIENS WHO MAY BE SLEEPER CELL MEMBERS HERE TO KILL US ALL. Evidentally no one told our border patrols and immigration people that prescription drugs (and worse) can come in with the illegals 24/7 because they don't have to go through border patrols. Instead they focus on grandma and grandpa who might need asthma inhalers. Duh!

If you haven't begun to stock supplies and create a shelter, get a move on it. Take care of #1 - Uncle Sam is taking care of campaign donors, internet CD theft and elderly druggies.
