Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush (R) greets former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney (L) and his wife Mila, as Britain's Prince Charles looks on, prior to the state funeral for Reagan
Did anyone else lose it while watching this most poignant moment? I read that this flag was flying on the USS Ronald Reagan at the time of his death.
I certainly lost it when she clutched the flag to her chest! And then again when she whispered to Patti, "I don't want to go."
I should have invested in Kleenex this past week.
I started to cry all over again when that flag was presented also.
By the time Nancy was at the casket for the final time, the nation was probably sobbing all over again also.
God Bless Nancy for allowing all of us to be there, even at that point. She didn't have to allow us there, but she did.
I was losing it but when she hugged the flag to her chest I really lost it.
I absolutely bawled my head off when they took the flag off that casket. My heart is just broken for Nancy, and for President Reagan as well, wishing he could have been himself the last 10 years. I am glad he has gone onto a better place, but Vice President Cheney spoke for all of us when he said that although we knew it was coming, it didn't make it any easier.
You are correct about the flag. The gentleman is the current commander .. the USS Ronald Reagan is due to arrive at her home port of SAN DIEGO on approx July 23rd. We can hardly wait!!
We're going to try to make it a big FReeper event - rumors have it that Jim Robinson may even be there.
