The War on Islamism is crippled by the liberalism of the American people
none | June 13, 2004 | Ron Lewenberg

Posted on 06/13/2004 7:31:00 PM PDT by rmlew

On Friday, in the state of Idaho, a jury came to the conclusion that the First Amendment protects terrorist incitement, propaganda, and recruitment and that these actions do not constitute material support for terrorism.

Al-Hussayan had been charged with providing expert advice and assistance to terrorists through operation of Web sites of the Islamic Assembly of North America. Prosecutors said the sites were aimed at recruiting and funding militants and contended they fostered terrorism. …

We talked about that we weren't going to step on anybody's rights to hold the opinion they had," said juror John Steger in interviews by local media.

Saudi grad student cleared of terror charges

In the past, the government would have had to protect foreigners’ accused of recruiting enemies against the US from violent retribution by Americans. Today, we have citizens, not just the elite, of a conservative state taking a position of free speech absolutism. I used to think that this suicidal liberalism was limited to the left, useful idiots, and libertarians. However, now we have the American people putting a specious and ahistoric interpretation of our rights ahead of the survival of the nation. It seems that this disestablishmentarian and paranoid impulse has filtered to the American people and to Republican legislators. http://www.samiomar.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=content&contentID=53&categoryID=15&lang=EN

Many talking heads have proposed that terrorists and their supporters be tried in the US instead of being sent to Guantanamo Bay in light of the abuses at Abu Ghraib. This is no longer a viable option as we refuse to find terrorist supporters guilty. Ironically, the civil libertarians have made military courts necessary.

Sami Omar Al-Hussayan’s supporters have tried to portray him as an innocent student, and a victim of anti-Muslim hysteria, who simply hosted an Islamic site. They seem to believe that this "computer genius" did not bother to read his sites. (Are we to believe that Al-Hussayan did not read e-mails sent out on a e-mail list-serve, which he moderates? Among these was one asking local Muslims to compile information on US military officers for assassination.) The reality is that Al-Hussayan is a veritable nexus of Saudi Islamist terrorism. We are indeed fortunate that Al-Hussayan will be deported on an immigration violation as he failed to note ties to Hamas in his Visa application.

In the past 3 years, we have seen the left and the civil-libertarian right argue that the right of dissent protects sedition, that terrorist organization and their fundraisers are protected as religious organizations, and finally that Islamist propaganda fundraising and recruitment are protected under free speech. Now the American people are beginning to agree. Either we fight the liberals in the press and academia, or the war on terrorism is lost because the American people no longer understand their rights and responsibilities. We rather live up to utopian ideals than survive as a people. The Gramsciites have won.

tarting tomorrow, I fully expect to see dozens of articles and opinion pieces crowing about this victory against he Patriot Act written not only by the Fifth-Column left, but also by the useful-idiots on the right. The positions of Lew Rockwell, Justin Raimondo, and Joe Sobran are a given on this issue. The only question is what Paul Craig Roberts, Robert Novak. Pat Buchanan, Taki, Michael Peroutka (the Constitution Party candidate) will say. Will the opponents of the Iraq war continue on the isolationist trajectory towards anti-Americanism, or will they remember that theoretical nationalism means supporting defense of ones country.

Then, I guess that these jurors wouldn't object to their names, stats, pictures, home addresses and the charges they considered being posted on the internet along with their decision to free these accused terrorists.

So if I say all Americans should declare open season on terrorists and hunt them down....I am protected by free speech.

Muslims in the US need to go back home.

Their only goal here is to help kill us or to help the Jihadis take over the country peacefully, by using our elective process against us. Either way, Islam intends to rule the US.

As long as we agree to become "dhimmis", Muslims will have no problem with us remaining here in America. As long as we pay our 'tribute', Muslims will allow us to live in the US.

Inshallah!

That might be construed as hate speech in some municipalities.

Let the posting begin. If they are so proud of their decison then let us all know who they are.

If just one American Military Officer is murdered by these terrorists connected to this Islamic demon, or a member of an Officer's family killed by these terrorist demons, a rope and tree should be this 'freed' vermin's reward. The jury in this case has forgotten why they are free to make such asinine verdicts for such a blatant terrorist enabler. I want their names and addresses posted on the Net, to allow their neighbors, especially their military neighbors or neighbors with children in the Military to shun and ostracize these dolts.

Damn. If militant Idaho is weak on the WOT, imagine what liberal America is going to be like. Ashcroft may have to suspend the Constitution, for our own good, of course.

I wouldn't blame the jurors too much, the judge would not let the prosecutors present all the evidence they had. "Too prejudical to the defendent" or some such twaddle. Judge was appointed by GHW Bush.

Utopian ideals? ...."What is best in life?" To destroy the jihadists, to drive their leftist enablers before you, and to hear the lamentations of their media!
