[history]
The American Civil Liberties Union is at it again. In another attempt to subvert the nation's historical religious heritage, the ACLU threatened to sue Los Angeles County unless officials removed a small cross from its seal. L.A. County woefully -- and prematurely -- capitulated.

Defend America's heritage...be more like Ronald Reagan!
I know here that you will agree with me that standing up for America also means standing up for the God who has so blessed our land. I believe this country hungers for a spiritual revival. I believe it longs to see traditional values reflected in public policy again. To those who cite the first amendment as reason for excluding God from more and more of our institutions and everyday life, may I just say: The first amendment of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this country from religious values; it was written to protect religious values from government tyranny.

Unfortunately, the ACLU has lost sight of what I believe was its original charter. I'm embarrassed to say I was once a member (in ye dark old days) when I thought they stood for individual (not collective) liberties in the face of "the majority", such as Nazi-scum having the right to assemble. What lost it for me was the ACLU's convenient overlooking of our most important freedom, the 2nd Amendment to the Bill of Rights. Somehow, they always managed to ignore that one in their fund-raising literature and legislative and judicial campaigns. In my political awakening, I soon realized they have very little to do with individuals rights, and what is right, and have everything to do with a political agenda (just like Amnesty International, just like People for the American Way, just like the Union of Concerned Scientists, etc.) If I could only sue them all for misrepresentation!

Someone, soon, will file a suit saying they are offended by anything with Saint in the name, even St Augustine isn't going to be exempt.
