Is it Gephardt?
Labor leaders believe union friend Rep. Dick Gephardt has the inside track to be Sen. John Kerry 's vice president. We hear that AFL-CIO execs say it's a done deal.

Gephardt may be the best pick -- assuming he can swing Missouri into Kerry's column.

I don't think John F*ckin' has any good Veep choices. But he absolutely MUST win Missouri to have a prayer of becoming President.

P.S. By "best," I mean smartest for Kerry. Obviously, I don't want Missouri swinging into Kerry's column.
To: Bonaventure
And just the other day we heard it was the governor of Iowa. Before that the rumor was Edwards or Clark.
The media needs to keep Kerry's name in the spotlight without actually having him in the spotlight. If he is actually seen, his numbers drop so doing VP speculation is a good way to prop up Kerry without him imploding.

I didn't think Kerry could find a Veep who is duller than he is. I stand corrected.

I've been saying the same for weeks. He's safe, and won't
outshine the dullard that won the nomination. He also may
put MO in play, and you get all that fat union money that
has been extorted from their members.
he isn't exciting, though. and he's a crappy campaigner.

Well, that'll be an exciting ticket. Gephardt isn't much more lively than Kerry.

Gephardt was popular only in the Greater Saint Louis area. The rest of the state hated his guts.

Gephardt isn't much more lively than Kerry.
But he's got a history of being a hateful puke...that's what Kerry needs so he can 'rise above the fray' and let his browless attack dog spit the venom.

True, but he can't selection one who is more 'exciting' or 'charismatic' than himself. It has to be dull and duller, since the Dems seem stuck with Mr. Dull.

What a lifeless and depressing ticket Kerry/Gephardt will make. It would be Dukakis/Benston all over again.

I've heard people say that Gephardt never tried for statewide office in Missouri because he knew he'd lose.
To: Bonaventure
This is funny
Labor Leaders think Gephardt is it.
Al From and the DLC thinks Vilsack is it and they hate Edwards DUers want either Edwards or Clark
Deaniacs have started a Dean for VP website
Democrats don't have a clue who Kerry is going to pick.

In ST. Louis they had to rig the vote to get Gephardt reelected. Held the polls open way past closing time.

All it takes is for the St Louis cemetaries to have a high turnout rate, and the rest of the state is out of luck.

You're right -- no one has a clue. But it's still fun to follow the gossip.
