They are remaining from the Gulf War. The A3 upgrades began in 1987. We would have been double stupid to send older vehicles to a war that had been in a four year upgrade program. Those have to be newer, renovated vehicles.

Giving M113's to a unit that has no track drivers, no maintenance capability and no Prescribed Load List of repair parts for the M113 is just a waste of everybody's time.

You know that Hack "The Hack" is quite aware of the logistics issue, but mentioning it wouldn't be playing to his audience...

Clancy, too? What did he do?

I quit Clancy after The Sum of All Fears. I have a pretty good feel for good literature, and I don't believe that I missed a thing after that.

While I'm on the subject, a good book (but just a fuzz hokey!) is The Ten Thousand by Harold Coyle. Always read it when I need a rousing story about how good our troops are.
