PFC. Maupin has been missing since April 9th. He hasn't been seen since a video tape of him was broadcast on al-Jazeera shortly after his capture.

He is not forgotten, any info on his location will lead to a Special Ops rescue in about three minutes flat. I am sure intelligence agencies are working 24/7 trying to find the right info...

I'm sure you are right, but they haven't found him, even with the reward of asylum in the U.S.A. for any Iraqi who tips us off. I wonder if he is even in Iraq any longer.

I think he just may be alive because of his value as a human shield. Maybe he is the reason that the fat idiot al-Sadr isn't meat pudding.

Sadly, no, if I had to guess, he is most likely dead already. His captors probably made several videos of him and will release them slowly over time. The last video will be of his execution for "revenge" for the prisinor-abuse incident.

From an article I was reading before I found your thread:
Three Americans -- Pfc. Keith M. Maupin of Batavia, Ohio; William Bradley of Chesterfield, N.H.; and Timothy Bell of Mobile, Ala. -- are missing since their convoy was attacked April 9 outside Baghdad
Prayers for all three of these men to come home safely!

I thought of him today, wondering why our media has "forgotten" about his story and can't harp enough on the "prison atrocities". I thought about posting and asking if there was an update on our brave soldier...thanks for posting this thread. Prayers for Pfc. Maupin and all our soldiers.

I heard on a local radio show today that hostages captured in Iraq, especially Americans, most especially American soldiers and also soldiers or citizens of other coalition nations are wanted for
purchase by al-Queda.
I have found a couple of articles on the Web which refer to hostages being sold. Article at
"The Australian" and at
The Wash. Post
Not mentioned in the articles but from what I heard on radio, the reason AQ wants these hostages is because they are feeling the heat in the Afghanistan/Pakistan border area where OBL and other honchos are being hunted by American and Afghan and Pak forces. They want Americans to use as human Shields when the net becomes too tight.
If this is true, there is some hope that Pfc. Maupin and the 2 American civilians are still alive, although their situations are not promising if they are between the most hunted man and the best hunters on the planet.
I can't find any articles that support my theory that Pfc. Maupin may be held by al-Sadrs thugs and this is the reason that he (al-Sadr) is still alive and free even though we know where he is and have vowed to capture or kill him.

Bush meets parents of captured Ohio soldier
Wednesday, June 23, 2004
CINCINNATI (AP) President Bush met privately with the parents of an Army Reserve soldier from Ohio who was taken captive by insurgents in Iraq in April.
Bush, during a visit to this Ohio River city, met Monday night with the parents of Pfc. Matt Maupin aboard Air Force One just before the presidents jet left Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Ohio, who represents the Cincinnati area, saw the parents Carolyn and Keith Maupin of Batavia board the presidents plane for the meeting but did not participate in it, Chabot spokesman Brian Griffith said yesterday.
The White House acknowledged the meeting but declined to disclose what was discussed.
Mrs. Maupin did not return a telephone message left at her suburban Cincinnati home yesterday.
The parents "were very comforted by what the president had to say to them," said Maj. Mark Magalski, an Army officer who has aided the Maupin family since the soldier was taken captive.
Magalski said he attended the meeting and that the Maupins spent 30 to 45 minutes with the president.
The soldier, 20, disappeared after his convoy was attacked April 9 outside of Baghdad. A week later, the Arab television station Al-Jazeera broadcast a videotape showing Maupin surrounded by five masked men holding automatic rifles.

I have been told this young man was shot.
These people need to be punished for their treatment of our soldiers.
