El Paso, Texas, with average summer temperatures above 93 degrees Fahrenheit and relative humidity over 70 percent, is the sweatiest city in the United States, a study released on Tuesday found.
Research scientist Tim Long calculated heat indexes and relative humidity levels to come up with his top 100 sweatiest cities in America list.
By Long's calculations, in just four hours, El Paso's residents produce enough sweat to fill an Olympic swimming pool, with individuals shedding more than 36 fluid ounces of perspiration an hour.
"The driving force is heat, but humidity is a key factor," said Long. "It can feel like 118 in El Paso but it's only 94."
For the dubious honor, El Paso Mayor Joe Wardy will receive a year's supply of Red Zone antiperspirant from Old Spice, a brand owned by consumer products company Procter & Gamble Co. and the sponsor of the study.
The next four sweatiest U.S. cities are: Greenville, South Carolina; Phoenix, Arizona; Corpus Christi, Texas; and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Very odd numbers.

No comment on attractiveness of EP. Although I've lived not too far north of EP in NM. There are far worse climates.
Put it this way, when you walk out of your house in the morning (6:00 AM) and you are in a FULL sweat within 30 seconds, you know it sucks...there's just no two ways about it.
I have also been to Denver in the summer. It was very dry, but it was pretty dang hot too. Even that, though, it just wasn't as miserable. When you did sweat, it evaporated; it didn't stick to you like it does in the South here.
Why do people do this to themselves?
Easy for us to say up here in the Northwest.....especially on such an amazing day. Matter of fact, I'm getting outta here and going fishing......

I seriously doubt El Paso is as humid as it is portrayed. And I know Greenville, SC, second place in this silly listing, is not nearly as unpleasant in the summer as is Columbia, which didn't rate a mention.
Greenville, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, is about 1050 feet above sea level; Columbia, 100 miles southeast of Greenville, is close to some serious swamps, and is 190 feet above sea level. Average hi/lo July temps in Greenville are 88/68; in Columbia, 92/70. The site I went to didn't have humidity stats, but I'd bet Columbia's humidity is higher. Columbia is absolutely one of the most miserable places in the summer (the weather, I mean; the people are nice) I've ever encountered. No way Greenville is worse.

One summer, due to a no-budget lifestyle, was spent without AC in house or car. Amazing what you can survive.
My mom is from Carlsbad NM (I've lived in Albukirk and Santa Fe).
You wanna see desolation? El Paso is a metropolis in comparison to Carlsbad.
Yeah, but it's a dry sweat, unless your swimming to the near shore to find work.
I agree. I spent 11 years on the Coastal Plain of South Carolina, and have also spent quite a bit of time in Texas during the summer....Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, etc...and there isn't any comparison. I can remember many mornings in SC when I would break a full sweat at dawn just walking the 15 yards from my back door to my pickup. And, for those 11 years, I worked outdoors in that climate.
I REALLY appreciate air conditioning.
"HELL PASO" is more like it. Why anybody decided to inhabit this area is beyond me.
