El Paso, Texas, with average summer temperatures above 93 degrees Fahrenheit and relative humidity over 70 percent, is the sweatiest city in the United States, a study released on Tuesday found.
Research scientist Tim Long calculated heat indexes and relative humidity levels to come up with his top 100 sweatiest cities in America list.
By Long's calculations, in just four hours, El Paso's residents produce enough sweat to fill an Olympic swimming pool, with individuals shedding more than 36 fluid ounces of perspiration an hour.
"The driving force is heat, but humidity is a key factor," said Long. "It can feel like 118 in El Paso but it's only 94."
For the dubious honor, El Paso Mayor Joe Wardy will receive a year's supply of Red Zone antiperspirant from Old Spice, a brand owned by consumer products company Procter & Gamble Co. and the sponsor of the study.
The next four sweatiest U.S. cities are: Greenville, South Carolina; Phoenix, Arizona; Corpus Christi, Texas; and New Orleans, Louisiana.
But which city has the most spit?

My one encounter with "hell on earth" was an August trip to Lethbridge, Alberta for work. It was nearly 100 degrees that day, with a relative humidity of about 2%. Not a drop of sweat at all -- but I could feel myself evaporating as the parched, hot wind of southern Alberta swept through the streets of the city.
No, no, no --- you cannot let the truth out about El Paso weather which is actually about the most ideal weather there is. Chilly nights even in the summer --- cold enough in the winter to know it's winter but not cold enough to affect your heat bills much --- and it can be over 100 with just a ceiling fan going and you're comfortable.
I've never seen a post insult so many in such a short space! LOL!
My vote goes to Charleston. The 2 years I was stationed there, the average heat index in the summer had to be in the 105-110 degree range. I think it's worse than Tampa, were I live now.
But I think the dampest place I've ever been had to be Baton Rouge in late July. Ick.....

Nope, never been to it, I guess because there's no shortage of spicy foods here year round!
Hatch is beautiful --- don't miss the Chili festival. It's not very hot in August anyway.
I take it that you've never been to New York City in the middle of the summer?
You'll encounter some awesome scenery --- some beautiful wide open empty spaces where you can see for hundreds of miles.

I totally agree. In fact, I just walked outside, took the garbage out, got something out of the car, and walked back inside...FULL SWEAT. And, worse, it really isn't that hot. Right now, Weather.com has it as "Feels like" 90°. Of course, it is 8:30 PM. Which is another thing about being in drier climates...I'm amazed at how it cools off in the evening. In the morning, it actually is dry and, usually, "cool" (70°-75°).
It really is the humidity.
My uncle lives in the Lake Tahoe/Reno area and it is absolutely beautiful. I just checked Weather.com for his ZIP and it is showing 82°, but "feels like" 80°. So, indeed, it does actually feel cooler when there is lower humidity. He actually gets away with a "gator cooler" (?) and only runs his AC when it is really hot. I guess the gator cooler sucks all of the hot air out of the house. His energy bill in the summer is not too bad. Course, even with it being 80°, he is probably "dying" right now, but when he comes back down to Florida, he is really dreading it. He will only come down to Florida in the wintertime now.
Great, my wife is an amateur photographer. We are really looking forward to this trip. The ride from southern New Mexico up to Colorado is supposed to be real nice..

I just came in from spraying my fruit trees, and I look like I've been sprayed myself.
