Annan Opposes Exempting U.S. From Court
The Washington Post ^ | June 18, 2004 | Colum Lynch

UNITED NATIONS, June 17 -- U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan on Thursday urged the Security Council to oppose renewal of a resolution that would shield U.S. troops serving in U.N.-approved peacekeeping missions from prosecution before the International Criminal Court, saying the "exemption is wrong."

Annan noted that the United States is facing international criticism for abuses of detainees in Iraq and Afghanistan. He told reporters: "It would be unwise to press for an exemption, and it would be even more unwise on the part of the Security Council to grant it. It would discredit the council and the United Nations that stands for the rule of law."

I say push harder and then still refuse to be held responsible while under the UN.

The whole thing is a set up.

This little slimeball wouldn't have the first effing clue about the ''rule of law'', even if it bit him in the ass at one of his U. S. taxpayer-funded mega-dollar sex parties.

Why are we in the UN? Seriously, why? Why are my hard earned tax dollars financing the UN? I wish we had a president who would stand up to this nonsense.

And this from a guy where the average life expectancy is 39 years.

Where is the rule of law when it comes to the Oil for Food scandal where they tell some of the leading perpetrators not to cooperate, give no subpoena powers to the investigator, Volker. Ignore Palestinian/Arab attrocities. Sudan, Libya and Cuba on the Human Rights Council. Etc. ect. etc.

I don't need to wish Annan to go to hell - Lucifer has reservations already made!

Hope we do. Mr. Super U.N. twerp wants to sit in judgement of the U.S. while he blatantly steals. Great power play - be a member of the Security Council, vote in sanctions on countries, then proceed to handle under the table deals to profit from breaking the sanction they themselves put into place. Sure beats bringing peace and unity to the world.
