Imus on rampage against Michael Reagan - microphone envy?

Posted on 06/24/2004 7:28:43 AM PDT by fishtank

Editorial by fishtank.

I heard Imus rant again against Michael Reagan in a strange example of possible microphone envy. Both Imus and Frank Rich did their best at Michael Moore-style "comedy" to insult Michael Reagan this morning.

Imus intimated last week that MR basically had no right or reason to be present at the side of the casket with Nancy, RonJr and Patti. The "I-man" made insulting remarks about Michael being the "adopted" kid, and that the rest of the family should "get rid of the adopted kid".

Is Imus transferring hatred of Ronald Reagan onto his son Michael? Is Imus supporting Kerry only because he doesn't like George W Bush? Is Imus too scared to directly criticize Reagan and Bush-43, so instead he transfers his disdain to people like Michael Reagan, Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld?

Is Imus suffering ranch-envy in comparison to Don Rumsfeld? Both of them have ranches in New Mexico, but was Rumsfeld's ranch paid for through a non-profit donation effort?

Back to Michael Reagan - would Don Imus insult one of the kids staying at his ranch if the I-man found out that the child were adopted - like Michael Reagan was?

Is Imus so grumpy because his show starts in New York at 6 AM? Is he grumpier than normal because he has to get up two hours earlier to do the show from the New Mexico ranch?

I listen to Imus for one reason: he gets a lot of worthwhile interviews on his show. Period.

Who is Imus?? Are you possibly referring to that washed up liberal butt kissing has-been who ceased to be worth listening to several years ago?

Now, if a Republican said something as hateful as that -- where's the uproar?

Imus needs to get the marbles out of his mouth. I'd love to see this repeated over and over on FOX -- maybe even CNN would do it just to trash MSNBC.

I heard it, and Rich and Imus basically denegrated Reagan, asking if his body was in the coffin. Then went on to bash Michael Reagan, then went on to praise F911.

I listen to Imus, just because he is somewhat intelligent and does have good guests, but I do have to turn off the radio now and then as the liberal whores spew their diatribe. But honestly, it also gives me a clue to the liberal mindset and how wrong they are all going to be proven come November. One thing I always tell myself is that polls and pundits have a funny way of being wrong most of the time.

Woody Allen feels the same way about adoption. Creeps.

Imus is a shriveling, hateful and reprehensible stooge who tries to be provocative and instead finds himself being a laughingstock. Frank Rich is so filled with hatred for anything even remotely conservative or traditional that it's a wonder anyone reads his NYT trash. Leave it to these desperate has-beens to praise Michael Moore and then trash Ronald Reagan, Michael Reagan and George Bush in less than 5 minutes.

No. Inus (or Anus) probably saw Michael in the shower.

Who watches or listens to this simpleton who hasn't sense enough to comb his hair or shave. He wears a cowboy hat as though setting up a dude ranch for kids in New Mexico qualifies him.

I did this HTML adjustment to make it smaller.

Use a fraction of the height/width data from the right click "Properties" box for the correct proportions.

Don Imus is a first-rate dope. I used to listen to his show to hear Rob Bartlett's skits, but now there's no reason to listen to his show.

I recently wrote a letter to WTKK (96.9) in Boston telling them I will not listen to the Imus in the Morning Show ever again and that they should get rid of it (and Barnicle and Egan and Browdy). The way to handle him is not to listen and to write letters to stations that carry his show telling them you won't listen. Radio stations sell advertising based on number of listeners so 96.9 will listen. After all, when listeners started tuning out Extreme Games (and writing letters to the station) and Extreme Games dropped from the number 1 show in the Boston market to the number 5 show, Jay Severin stopped his Bushbashing.

If you want to teach this liberal fartmouth a lesson, write a letter to your station saying you won't listen and then stop listening.

If all of us really started to ignore all these lunatics they might just go the way of the dodo bird. these cretians are still around because us conservatives are probably the only ones who give them the time of day.

I think we should stop listening to them period. they only have the occasional interview that we want to hear because these guys know its what keeps us tuned in. I say we need to tune them out. I havnt given a one of them the time of day for many years I only know about their antics because of FR. people used to ignore the fringe now it seems they are in our face constantly and taken seriously do the decent thing dont feed the crazies!!!

They tried putting him on here on KUHL early morning and yanked the popular local guys. There was such an outcry that they pulled him and put the local guys back.

Met one of the local guys at Fess Parker's winery one day and mentioned to him that we were among the callers who had protested their being pulled for Imus. He was very grateful to all who had called.

Concur completely. Used to listen to Imus in early days of political talk radio (late 80's), but two crucially important things have taken place since then:

1) Imus has gone insane.

2) More and better choices are now available.

Michael Reagan was Ronald Reagan's first son. By adoption he is on equal legal footing with little Ron and Patti Davis as concerns Ronald Reagan. If Nancy Reagan was in that coffin, Michael would have deferred to her children but as the elder son of Ronald Reagan, he was entitled to have first place in the ceremonies. He is most certainly entitled to speak about his father who loved him and accepted him as his son. IMO Imus should have been retired long ago and probably would have been if not for his irritant factor which, like with Andy Rooney and Jimmy Breslin, the liberal media finds tactically useful in pushing their agenda.
