The USMC is unquestionably a part of the US NAVY. As of June 24, 2004 the Commandant of the Marine Corp still answers to the Secretary of the Navy and is still a part of the DoN.

The still belong to the Navy. It has been suggested to make them separate...but has never come to fruition....but we are talking about the Pentagon...so it could change like the weather.

Sorry, the Marines are still part of the Department of the Navy. Check the chain of command the marines still answer to the sec of the Navy.
