For the first time since he began his investigation, the man charged with getting to the bottom of the oil-for-food scandal says he has uncovered "serious problems" with the program.
In an interview with FOX News on Wednesday former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker (search) said that he will be publishing an initial report in about two months, and it will likely be damaging for U.N. officials and many others involved in the oil-for-food program.

This is the last that will ever be heard of "Oil for Food."
Personally I trust Norm Coleman on this one. Volker has found things that he feels would be better if they just go away.
If it has taken him this long to uncover "serious problems" this investigation isn't going anywhere any time soon. Some time in the future we will probably hear that the problems uncovered have been addressed by the UN.
Agree ... another cover-up well under way.

And the UN still controls the Iraqi oil revenues. Could you imagine a corrupt local official who had been caught taking kickbacks being allowed to still administer funds? But apparently it's OK for the UN to do such.

I read in an article yesterday that the UN still controls the oil revenues. I'll see if I can run that down and post a link.
Thanks to rising oil prices, Iraq is earning a record Pounds 41m to Pounds 44m a day. This has led to greater economic activity, including private reconstruction schemes. That money goes into a fund controlled by the United Nations but Iraqi leaders want control transferred to the new interim government, when sovereignty is transferred at the end of this month.
