NBC Nightly News Disses Fahrenheit 911!

Posted on 06/25/2004 4:30:09 PM PDT by MplsSteve

The NBC Nightly News' Truth Squad did a review of Michael Moron's Fahrenheit 911.

Here are a few words they used to describe this "documentary"...

Misleading Deceitful

This is not a joke.

NBC was not kind to Moore's movie as they analyzed it to see whether it was factual or not.

I wish the clip or transcript were available. It did my heart good to see a major media outlet lay it on the line for once.

Did anyone else out there see this tonight?

You know how conservative talk radio hosts sometimes feel the need to disagree with President Bush to establish their claim to be balanced and independent? This is NBC's version of the same thing.

Lisa Myers (NBC) said at the end of the piece that "Moore says President Bush is worse than Usama Bin Laden and that pretty well questions his credibility." (paraphrased)

OK, just saw it. Overall pretty good report. However, what she said at the end was (paraphrase) "the misleading and deceptive information MAY lead to credibility problems for Moore's film". Not too bad, but not a definitive denunciation, either.

Anyone else get the feeling that Michael Moore's 15 minutes are almost up!

Let's hope not.

No. I think his tribe is on the increase, sorry to say. Facts don't matter to zealots on the far left.

Sort of like the DaVinci Code -- radicals don't let the facts stand in the way of a hate filled rant against the Church (or Conservatives). I heard a liberal friend say today that Clinton wrote a book, while Bush is to stupid to even spell 'book'.

"but in the documentary MM slams all the networks by using their own words. "

He also slams Democrats who supported the war.

NBC's Matt Lauer went after Moore in an interview last week and began to refute some of the hit-pieces points. The leftist networks may be trying to shield Kerry from fallout over this film by seeking to sink it right as it launches.

Someone else deserves the credit for this, but when I heard it today, it described Moore and so many others to a TEE:.

For that reason, I almost wish the "Coalition of the Wild-Eyed" ad had been kept under wraps til after the Dem. convention. Let's not do them the favor of showing them how they look -- let em go as over the top as they want to - then unleash the ad when the real campaign starts.

I can do you one better: I saw Fareinheit 9/11 itself.

I firmly believe that, if I am going to have an opinion about something, it should be informed. Googling for other people's opinions wouldn't be sufficient. I needed to see it for myself.

Its basic premise was its most fundamental flaw -- that Bush was malicious and/or incompetant. Moore makes a big deal out of the alleged financial interests the Bin Laden family and the Bush family, and the admittedly baffling blindness the Bush administration has for the Saudis. The images of the 9/11 devastation were perhaps the most powerful cinematic images I've seen since The Passion.

That said, it was unadulterated propeganda. I found myself doubting Bush in the theatre (I'd still like an explanation for his friendliness with the Saudis). But, as I walked out of the theatre, I talked with probably the only other conservatives in the group -- and we recounted precisely why Afghanistan AND Iraq were just causes. Much to the chagrin of the liberals of the throngs of lemmings there, we didnt agree with the gal who shouted "Down with Bush" in the parking lot. When I replied I'd vote for Bush -- even after seeing the movie -- she concluded I was a f---head.

Hmmmm I wish I had seen that, anyone else see it???

I saw it, and Lisa Myers discredited just about everything in the movie, including the "bin-Laden/Bush family ties", "mysterious private plane flights" horse manure the Left-winged conspiracy theorist whackos like Moore have been spewing since 9/11. While she didn't deny the private plane flights never existed, she did say that what Moore said about it in his "movie" was absolutely untrue.

NBC probably ran that report as a caution to the DNC.

The DNC won't listen.

What a week... NY Times calls Clinton's book a big bore, and now the alphabet news networks put down Michael Moore's movie!

Yep, by Sunday morning, every media organ will be praising this movie again and dumping on Bush again, because they know the average viewer's attention span doesn't go beyond one news cycle.

I just find it ironic that at DU there are threads about how right wing the media is. I kid you not, there have been recent threads there about how ~NPR~ is in Bush's pocket. And all the networks. It's an alternate universe they see, that is for sure!

I don't find it ironic, the left has been in an altered universe for decades, most of the DU'ers don't like John F. Kennedy.
