DEM KOCH KNOCKS KERRY AND BUSTS MOORE
WMCA-NY ^ | 6.28.2004

Posted on 06/28/2004 4:29:45 PM PDT by KMC1

NEW YORK - Former mayor of New York City, Democrat Ed Koch broke rank with John Kerry on the War On Terror, and says that Michael Moore must be "shamed" by responsible citizens for his outrageous and over the top assertions and unsubstantiated claims in his new film. Writing today the dem and former Mayor said,

"Senator John Kerry in criticizing United States'; foreign policy and the incumbent president is acting responsibly, albeit I disagree with many of his views. On the other hand, Michael Moore, writer and director of the film "Fahrenheit 9/11"; crosses that line regularly. The line is not set forth in the criminal statutes, but it is determined by Americans who know instinctively what actions and statements taken and uttered violate the obligations of responsibility and citizenship they deem applicable in time of war."

Yeah I agree, Bloomberg is a total waste. Ed Koch would really be something to see at the GOP convention.

Michael Moore is the Leni Reifenstahl of the anti-American Left....a talented, manipulative, lying, unscrupulous bleep

This is a slander of Leni Reifenstahl. Her film Triumph of the Will is, indeed, an outstanding piece of propaganda. It is slanted to glorify Hitler. It is somewhat "manipulative" in that scenes were staged to please the camera and other scenes emphasized the Aryan features of the participants. But, it was truly a documentary which covered an event that actually happened. It was not manufactured from clips taken out of context: There was no time shifting; no "explanatory" voice over; no insinuation that unrelated events were related. It was not a lie.

Michael Moore may be "talented." But he is not in the class of Leni Reifenstahl, who changed the perceived limits of cinematography. His talent is more of the class of a Joseph Goebbels' attack on Jewish bankers. He attacks with lies and innuendo, not to build up or glorify, but to tear down.

Nor was Leni Reifenstahl "unscrupulous". Her film, Olympia, about the 1936 Olympics, included (indeed, featured) the achievements of the American black athelete Jesse Owens, despite enormous pressure from the Nazi party.

In short: Leni Reifenstahl was an extremely talented artist; Michael Moore is a no-talent scumbag.

Afterthought: Leni Reifenstahl lived to a 101; if Michael Moore pulls his obese carcass another 10 years, it will be major surprise.

New info from Koch on Moore, he spoke to him on anniversary of 9/11 before a broadcast...

"Moore said something along the lines of “I don’t know why we are making so much of an act of terror. It is three times more likely that you will be struck by lightening than die from an act of terror.” I was aghast and responded, “I think what you have said is outrageous, particularly when we are today commemorating the deaths of 3,000 people resulting from an act of terror. I mention this exchange because it was not televised, occurring as it did before the show went live. It shows where he was coming from long before he produced “Fahrenheit 9/11.” ”

"This is a slander of Leni Reifenstahl."

I humbly defer to your obviously greater knowlege of film history and artistic content. I thought I was doing pretty well just to get her name spelled right. And thank you for ending your comments on what I consider to be a very upbeat analysis of Moore's health & longevity prospects.

Michael Moore may be "talented."

Excuse my french, but that is bullshit. Lumpy Riefenstahl is not "talented". He is marginally clever, and considerably sneaky. Period. He LOOKS talented, because he Plays to a predictable crowd, AND is in an Uninhabited field.

The moveon.org commercial contest had more talented entires than the swill he puts out.
