Iraqi men watch an Arabic TV channel in a Baghdad coffee shop, July 1, 2004, showing their ousted leader, Saddam Hussein in courtroom. Downcast but defiant, Saddam refused to recognize its authority and said the 'real criminal' was U.S. President George W. Bush. REUTERS/Ali Jasim

Re#51, 2nd photo of the Iraqis watching:

You have to wonder what is going throught the people's minds. This animal's face was on the only TV, front page of every newspaper, in every town, on the money, in kiddie's textbooks and otherwise omnipresent for over 25 years. 1 in 6 Iraqis know someone killed, mutilated or tortured by his regime. Now, they watch him receiving charges like any other criminal (save for the high profile). What are they thinking? Bless the innocents and may justice be done...

Saddam is flipping them the Bird, Arab-style, when he puts his finger to his lower eyelid and pulls down.

Thanks for the ping, TexKat! Great thread and you posted fantastic pics.

Your question about the belt was good. I wondered why he would be allowed to have a pen that could be used as a weapon instead of something like a stick of charcoal.
