That's easy. A couple years go a local sporting goods store ws going out of business. Within 2 weeks I bought a Beretta .40 and a Browning .22. Another example would be if somebody wants to buy a rifle and a pistol. Let's say you buy a revolver for persoal defense then see a nice OU shotgun on sale and wnt to buy it. The examples go on and on.

The one gun a month applies to any receipt of a handgun from a dealer (among other provisions). This also applies to repair work or pawn shop transactions (shipment back to the owner must occur through a dealer legally). So if I sent two of my guns to the factory or had to pawn them for extra cash. I would only be able to receive one every 30 days through the dealer (the only legal way to receive them). I would have to fill out the same paperwork, and go through the same background checks. All to pick up property that was legally mine to begin with. This is an example of how the government has gotten too big for its britches, trying to do things for "the common good."

C.S.Lewis put it properly when he wrote:

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences."

Actually the NRA had very little, if anything, to do with Virginia's pro-gun legislation this year. Thanks go to the VCDL. All Virginia gun-owners should become members of the VCDL as well as NRA. We have been extremely active in promoting pro-gun legislation, and keeping the localities and politicians in line. If I had to chose one pro-gun organization it would be VCDL.
